4.6 Dohc Svt
Do Ford offer a crate version of this engine? What would be the correct gearbox normally used?

Yes ford motorsports offers this motor in a crate. Only the new supercharged version.
Appropriate transmission would be a Tremec/BW t-56 6 speed. the older 4.6L DOHC use a BW t-45. These modular motors require special bellhousings and the clutch cable system converts to replicas poorly so plan a hydraulic clutch. Oh, another thing. Never buy a used Modular motor! They have very poor bearing/oiling issues and you will want a new motor or build your own. I know, more advise than you asked for..... Sorry Adam |
You can get a complete brand new 4.6 DOHC with the T-45 for $6000 from Stangparts.com . It's not listed on the website. You'll have to call them.
