SMC Replica info?

A friend of mine recently purchased an SMC Cobra replica built in the early 90s. He bought it from the estate of the deceased builder so he couldn't get much information on the car or company. I've done some searches but can't come up with much. Does anyone know anything about the company? Did they restructure or were they purchased by someone else. Are parts still available?
Thanks

I think they are long gone, but SMC was:

Thanks Ron
I found this old thread where Renaissance Man indicates that there may be a relationship with B&B. I think I'll e-mail him to see if he has any information. Anyone else?
Thanks

Ron has the info correct. I actually purchased the last car delivered from SMC on 22 Dec. 95. A "B&B" is essentially the exact same car. You can ask Bryan at B&B but I've heard that he may have bought the remaining parts, tubs, and whatever from SMC? I do know that firewalls and everything else from B&B will fit like a glove on an SMC. "Frank" was the owner of SMC and quit the biz due to a heart condition and cystic fibrosis. Not good to be around fumes and fiberglass in that condition.
There is nobody to contact at SMC any longer.

We purchased an SMC Cobra 2 years ago and are very happy with it. It was manufactured in 1997 according to the vin tag on the firewall. I have searched the internet and can find very little info as to where the car was manufactured. It uses the 4" tube frame with heavy bracing and Mustang 2 front end. The rear is a 4 link quad shock rear.
Was hoping the forum might have more info on these cars ?

I think Brian Anderson of B&B had a relationship with SMC at one time (may have been his DADS company). You might check with him he is still in Business in Granby Missouri.

I visited their factory in Fayetteville, AR in a cow pasture. There Fiberglas was very good.
A Formula 1 type guy was making an adjustable front and rear suspension on one of their frames.

It was my birthday but can not remember year. It looked like a well equipped place, we just avoided livestock while driving on grass.

Thanks for the info. I spoke to Brian about a year ago and he thought that SMC might have splashed his kit but was unclear about their time in business. I saw a reference to a racing SMC Cobra some time ago on the internet but very little info. Our vin tag indicates that it was the second one produced in 1997.
Any further details on them would be much appreciated, internet searches about the company have turned up nothing so far.

I can't seem to find the Vin plate on the SMC cobra 94. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Many of the SMC Cobras were manufactured at the plant in Arkansas. I have some original promotional ads for the company and the car that I got off of Ebay. If your car was indeed a kit, perhaps the VIN tag (a large brass tag on the firewall) is still packed in the boxes that the kit came in? Also, there were three stages of kits and a complete turnkey car. Some of the more basic stages may not have had their own VINs from SMC. It took us several years to get information on our car, but I can tell you it is a very good kit and is well built.

Any chance of getting a scan of the brochure for the SMC?
