Kitmaker in Des Moines?????
Anyone know of a new Cobra kit manufacturer in Des Moines??
Saw one of the cars (new delivery) at the Quaker Steak and Lube in Sheffield Lake, Ohio this evening. Looks like it had an aluminum 427 and a Jag rear suspension. Looked like a nice machine. Can't remember what he said it was but no one had heard of it before.... |

Late Apex,
That's a distinct possibility... The car was assembled/built in Pennsylvania. Possibly from that batch of parts... The owner said that the web-site was not up and running as of yet - maybe someone in Des Moines bought the molds and jigs and is starting up production... al |
I believe the chassis and body are EM clones. Fred Gimbel in Pa is using them to build EM cars.
Larry:) PS: Areplica of a replica!:D |
Larry,
I think that you are right about the EM clone issue, the body was virtually identical to mine, (inside of hood/trunk, door/cowl overlap, dash, etc.), although the frame was a bit different. He did have to triangulated bars coming from the dash through the carpet, (at the tranny tunnel), and to the frame. I have only seen one other EM with this setup; Tom Wells, I believe. It looked like a great car... the build was flawless. Nice people too. Al, Didn't he call the manufacturer 'Powerformance' or similiar? - Dan |

Late Apex has it right, that was Mark's partner.

What about that oil change???? :MECOOL: |
Al,
Checked the oil when I got back from the QS&L last night... down about 1 qt in 220 miles - yeesh! But it was a great cruise; 80mph on the way out and about 90 on the way back... mucho fun! Anytime, that you have the time... I will make the time - can't pass up a free shot at a lift to do an oil change; will be taking off the decals tonight. Back to the original post topic... his car did have the Jag rear, but the Power Performance site lists a five link, his front frame members also looked a little different from the PP site; as I recall, his had a more authentic looking 'X' brace up there. Maybe it's optional, or his guy in Pennsylvania did some modifications. - Dan |
Its a nice tribute to the green car and its deceased owner. But I have to wonder a bit about using it for advertising...:JEKYLHYDE

Don't quite understand the post... |
Ummm, the owner of that green cobra died in a midnight street race. I am reluctant to even bring it up. RIP. Probably shouldn't have ever mentioned it...
|
But ya did:confused: and I'm still confused where you're headed with this. (the advertising reference)

I can tell you a little about the car ... it's my husbands. He says it's "ours" but we all know what that means!
The kit manufacturer is Power Performance out of Des Moines, Iowa (www.pwrperformance.com). The builder is Fred Gimbel ... Autovision out of Fawn Grove, PA. Fred used to build EM ... so it is kind of a "replica of a replica". Power Performance has worked with Fred to make modifications to his liking. We've been "looking and saving" for years and always end up back at Autovision ... and we finally did it! I can tell you it has a Jag rear end and a 427 big block ... after that, he'll have to give the details! |
