427 center oiler questions

Guys,

I have an opportunity to buy a '67 427 center oiler and had some questions for those of you with some good cobra motor knowledge.

1. What sort of power from a stock motor (hp and ftlbs)
2. I would need an intake for it, are the 428's interchangeable or where can I get new parts. Are there any sources around for 427 parts, seeing it is a rare engine.
3. How much would you pay for a stock 427 (in need of a rebuild) assuming you wanted one in the first place. ie, what is it worth??
4. What sort of carbs/air cleaner were stock.
5. What did the original valve covers look like?
6. Are shelby's current parts interchangeable with the original 427 FE's

Any bits of info or suggestions you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Rb.

I am not one of the FE gurus here, but I think I can answer these for you

1. 375 to 425 stock depending on purpose of original build ( boat motor, water pump, service block etc.

2. depends on the heads that are on it low, med. high. parts ,old and new are widely available

3.depends on condition, standard bore might be worth somwhere around $2500-3000. 30. over a lot less also depends on heads , crank, etc.

4. see answer # 1

5. see answer #1

6. yes.

good luck, KK

From my old info on the fe blocks you probably have a 63 or 64. 65 thru 67 were all side oilers from the documentation I have. Some had oil galleries running to the lifts for hydraulic lifters. Those have to be blocked for solid lifters

Sorry guys,

The motor is actually from a 1964 Ford Galaxy and is dated to 64. I made a typo in the original message. Thanks for the feedback so far!
