Great Stroker makes Grassroots Motorsports Mag

Nice way to end up a long day at the office. Came home, brought in the mail, checked the new, November issue of Grassroots Motorsports magazine, and sure enough, on page 26, is a picture of my son Chris sitting in our faithful SPF, in front of the VIR ambulance.

I got to thinking this past spring, when our SPF track event was scheduled at VIR, that i might fenagle a pictue of our car into this magazine. So called them, had them send me several stickers with their Logo on them, and put one on the side of our car for the event. Then, shot some nice pics of Chris out doing stuff on the track, but figured the best chance i had of getting our car in the magazine was if i could also advertise VIR at the same time, since it is one of their favorite test circuits, and the editor might jump at the chance to score some points with the VIR folks at the same time. So had Chris pull our wet car in front of their VIR ambulance, and shot some pics, and sent them in several months ago.

I knew they liked Mac DeMere at the Michelein test facility in SC, they use his place a lot for tests, so mentioned in my letter that Mac likes instructing in my car (true, he loves the Olthoff suspension modifications), threw that fact in too. Then called and begged and groveled to the editor, and he said he would do what he could.

So now our car has been in several calendars, Griot's tool catalogue, Car Craft magazine, and will be a featured car in an upcoming Speedvision segement. The Speedvision put two cameras on Chris and our car at the VIR event, so we will be there, too. I was event able to score a plug for the Olthoff's in Grassroots Motorsports Mag.

Can you tell how proud i am of my son, all cool in his Simpson helmet and suit, looking racer-like in a national auto magazine.

By the way, my car is described as a Superformance, not as a "cobra." Legal stuff, you know.
