That's it, I'm pricing billet for a set of wheels! Anyone got any good dimensions for Sunbursts, I think I could write a program for them and make them cheaper than a set of Trigo's never mind the Halibrands without DOT approval.............The wide hips and narrow wheels look goofy to me, fill them fenders!
|
I'm going to bid $200,000 for that car. It won't meet the reserve, but I can casually mention my bid to my friends.

Sometimes I wonder if Kris walks around the museum cars in the middle of the night and talks to them...
|
Kris, very cool!

Jamo,
Wouldn't you?:3DSMILE: :JEKYLHYDE As far as ERA's perfection, outboard brakes are an option...:3DSMILE: |

Wish I knew where the car was, I would love to see it and get some pics! The area looks like Kahala. I've not even heard any rumors about this car! There ARE some real Cobras here, but this is the first I've heard of a "street" car.
I ASSUME the car is still in Hawaii and the sellers "agent" is in Florida? Figure about $1500 for shipping to Oakland from Honolulu. $900 if you want don't want it in a "container". I ship with "no container" BUT I buy a TON of insurance coverage from the shipper while in transit. Trust me, when you do that they WILL put it in a "container", LOL. Ernie |
?
Is this the body style that I have heard refered to as the 427 Roadster?
Thanks Rick |
Ernie,
It's in Sarasota FL. A bit of a commute, eh? |
rdorman...yes, street version car. no scoop, different dash layout, undercar exhaust are primary differentiation features. bill

Ernie.......
I'm heading your way tomorrow for some R&R with my family. I'm pretty sure I know the owner of this car, and will find out if it's still on the island. Send me an email and I'll give you a clue. - Bill - |
It's also missing the grill splitter wing. Still a beautiful car.
One note about the sunburst wheels is that they have a different back spacing clearence than the s/c hal;ibrands. You can put the halibrands on a street car, but the sunburst wheels will not fit the rear of an S/C or comp cobra, as they used bigger brake calipers than the street 427's which had smaller brakes. You would have to use a spacer. I kind of separate the rear fenders into three categories, the S/C - comp car which had the wide hips and large fender flares, the street cars with the wide hips and little/no flares, or the street cars with the narrow hips and little/no flares. |
Computerworks (Ron), thanks for showing the greasy spots on my garage floor, I mean, the cool pic of my Sunburst wheel! Just in case anyone thinks the spinners, or knockoffs, should be "gold", that's not true. Those are the original STEEL knockoffs and they rust within about ten minutes of being washed. I have to steel wool them to get rid of the rust. Obviously, I didn't do that before the picture! One of these days I'll clear coat them, but when I put them back on the hammer will knock off the coating, so... Rust is the color they will be!

I rather like the sunbursts as well...seems it would be an easy wheel to mock up for a cnc machine, add a wheel blank (from American Racing) and you could make any width / backspace you wanted.......

CSX 3166 427 Cobra
Very suspicious of car and 'broker' handing the car. Broker agreed to sell the car and then suddenly deal fell apart. Price was for slightly over market correct money for the car so money not the problem. Hmmmmm?????
