gauge update

Well, I got my tach to work finally and also my oil pressure gauge now is reading fine, however my water temp gauge still reads 100 all the time,so it must be the gauge or sender.Fan cuts on at 195 without problem. Also ,how did you guys hook up your ammeter? thanks;chuck

Ammeter or Voltmeter? Which is preferable?

Amp or VM

Most cars today use voltmeters. Even if you look through the catalogs like Summit or Jegs, you'll see that they hardly list any ammeters.

I'm using a VM and the hookup is simple. Run a switched 12V hot to the positive terminal of the VM and run the negative terminal to a good ground.

By the way, if you're using SW gauges for your gauge light you have to run a separate ground wire from the gauge housing to a ground as the negative terminal of the gauge is insulated from the gauge housing and gauge light push-in housing.

Good Luck,

Tony
