As Gordy points out...unless youse guys have driven through infamous San Joaquin Valley tule fog in the winter in the 30s (sometimes 20s), you don't know how damn cold/wet it can get without rain/snow. My car is pretty well insulated, as was my Butler--never needed a heater/defroster. Wouldn't have hurt anything; just never needed it. Frosted window? That's what the damn gloves are for. As Pat assplained, a disconnected fresh air hose at the top of the trap door will warm things up if ya really need it.
I'd sooner have air conditioning for the summers here. Then again, we Gasholes did do Death Valley and came out alive. BTW, I drive my car 12 months out of the year. Had a top for the Butler, but not yet for the Kirkham--so rain MIGHT make me reconsider certain days until I get one.;) |
I have a 7 liter capacity heater directly in front of the passenger compartment. Any more would just be silly.

Heater???Defroster???Air conditioning???
We don neet no stinkin' heater defroster or air conditioning!! What's next? viagra? Ha...Just a laughs guys. we don't have any of it and enjoy driving all year. For those really bad days we just drive other cars. I am considering having that fella up in Redding make me a top for the car. Right around 15 hundred if anybody is curious about price or having one made. I didn't drive the cobra to hot august nite for fear of turning my car into a fishbowl overnight. |
Greg,
Do you have a wife or girlfriend or do you hope to have some other nimble bodied babe riding alongside you one day? If so, get the heater. Just the thrill of driving the car keeps me warm but my gf thinks differently. She wants that heater blasting more than I can believe. Hey, it's less than $400. Money well spent. Chris |
Hey Greg,
I suggest you wait until after next weekend, then go ask "Who used their heaters? and Who wished they had heaters?" to all those who went on Snakes to the Lake  Have Fun on your Journey of Discovery, Randy R... |
I guess us simplified Central Coast guys are girly. Yeah, maybe so, but I'd rather be a "warm girly" than a "cold fish":D
Randy, Tahoe will only get into the low to mid 30's, so those without heaters won't be complaining at all. They'll be so frozen they won't be able to talk at all. :3DSMILE: Jamo, I'm ashamed you'd even think about a top! Damn fool. Don't you know how much fun you can have while you're wet? |
FIA Mike, Thanks! It's great to have the car. now I just need to make more time to work on it. At the present rate (2hrs a week) I may never see the road:CRY: Things should clear out soon!

Greg N.
I'm from the mid-west and need some clarification as to your question... I'm assuming you're from California? I watch the national news on a regular basis and have seen your highway congestion and incidences of road rage. Now when you refer to "heaters" do you mean a car heater or a gun..??? Confused in Ohio |
Casaleenie, how could you possibly think such a thing of we ,kinder, gentler,(and of course P.C.) Cali Boys?By the way,I think my heater puts out about 45 BTU.I'll have to check the "output duct" to be sure.
|
casaleenie, Now I do have that kind of heater!!!:D Permited of course!!:3DSMILE:
|
'confused in ohio'
a 44mag heater is just the thing down here  the only time I used my heater was on a blister hot day to lower the water temp in trafic |
TonguePirate: How's the build coming? Whereabouts are you in L.A.?
