The latest trouble

Have most things finally sorted out on the Hunter,however I was running it today in the garage to fix the oil pressure gauge problem and noticed the headers were red(at dusk) I did a search on this and I realize it can be normal but my plugs were really white so it must be real lean.What steps should I take to rectify this?I have a 351c roller cam motor with a 670 street avenger Holley carb,MSD ignition and billet distributor. thanks;chuck

Chuck;
First insure that you timing is not retarded; that will cause hot headers.
Should be about 35 deg at 3K and 12 deg at 1K.

If timing is ok then up the jets aabout 4 sizes; can't imagine making white plugs in the garage with no real load on the eng.
