The final result will be the reunion of: Crosley, Stills, Nash and Jung. (oww...that hurts!):p Quote:
What about CSX rollers (SA built) sold to AC for European market?? ...a full turnabout. (another :p) |
That's good Ron, am still laughing. That's what my grandpa used to say "you are as jung as you want to be". Of course he never knew Conehead Anderson though or he probably would have never mentioned age.

WT.......excellent analogy, I'm still chuckling. :D
Ah,,,,the gentle Hog Tied, how'd SHE get messed up in this? :3DSMILE: I can see C.S. wanting to make peace, come full circle or whatever you want to call it. I wish him good luck and all the best in his venture to do so. It WOULD warm my heart to see a new AC built Shelby Cobra available again. Ernie |
I may be able to shed some light on this, if anyone's interested.
I was talking with an Shelby insider over the weekend and this topic came up. He said that over the past month Alan Lubinsky [owner of the AC brand] and Carroll Hall Shelby have been in dicussions to reunite and co-brand the Shelby/AC name, but it is my understanding that Shelby would not be interested in entering into any kind of an agreement that would involve Jimmy Price in any way. The cars that would potentially be produced through some kind of joint venture would utilize the expertise of both companies to produce a product that would be recognized throughout the world. |
If anyone is "interested"? Love him or hate him, who around here would NOT be interested, LOL

Great Stuff!
Normally, I would have to pay a buck or two for a 'National Enquirer' to get this news of this caliber :) Life is good - Dan |
Actually, I'm really interested in this Crosley,Stills,Nash and Jung thing. I can't wait for their new 45. Did someone say they were going to make Studebakers again? Are they REAL?

AC/SPF/SAI/...whatever
fellas,
just got off the phone with my bud from FORD and they have a keen eye on 'ol Shel and "whats he up to" in this beginning discussion and chain of events across both ponds. Seems as if their legal guys are "twisted somewhat" on Shels last moves. He has not involved FORD Legal Department or gotten permission in any form or fashion on prior agreements and fouls the FORD Performance Groups on a many year "well laid out plan of performance related endeavors" they have. This timeline is going to be interesting to say the least. grumpy |

He is crying the blues because others took the risk, invested the time, patience and money to re-engineer and improve a vehicle he elected not to - and were financially successful where he was not. The only significant similarity between modern and original Cobra's is the body shape, the roots of which are cloudy at best. There are a plethora of similar british body styles from that period from Triumph and Jaguar. At this point CS is an "also ran" who is losing to competitors who produce a superior product at a better price. Further, many of his competitors are doing out of a passion for the product instead of greed. I once had great respect for him... Jim |
Gary,No Doubt Carroll Shelby is the cobra God,,if not ,then WHO ?
I am not sure where the spf and shelby merge got started ,I sure hope it dosent happen,I really liek the spf cars, but after reading all the post here by their owners,I am sure superformance would immediately become pure junk with any influence from Shelby.Tk |
Jim: You're post was on the money. You can bet that, whatever all of this is about, CS's main concern is HIMSELF and his WALLET.
SPF already uses the AC badges on their cars, and you can order different types of AC badges thru SPF. They went to the AC badge after the lawsuit; they had to discontinue the use of the Cobra name and any type of Cobra / Ford badges (although you can get them fron a number of companies on the internet, as we all know). They even had to change their Serial number badge because it had a snake on it. Next, he will go after all the shops that sell them, wanting a cut for his "charity". |
TerrySPF,
I disagree with your conclusions about C.S. Ford also had a stake in the Cobra emblem issue. My X is a chemist one of the things that bother her the most are theft of "intellectual property". Sometimes it's about money, sometimes it's about being RECOGNIZED for your achievments by your peers. I recognize the roll C.S. played in the Cobras history, and appreciate what he's done and IS doing for the automotive sport in general. Ernie |
For all you fellas who seem to thrive off this soap opera I feel obligated to inform of the following. On Oct. 16th in St. Louis at the 16th annual Run & Gun there will be someone high up from Ford attending and participating with a GT 40 along with several Shelby cobras that will be participating. These guys know their feces and what is really going on. They are an insider's insider. I have personally invited Carroll, but can't say for sure whether he will show, although fella Texan Stacy Pendergrass just recently checked in with me and said he would fill in for Carroll if Carroll can't make it. Stacy claims he has the inside scoop on the cobra brotherhood and will be a featured speaker on the brotherhood issues. John Ciacchi will lead a seminar on de-programing Superformance owners and the effect it has on lowering high blood pressure through modern yoga techniques. Turk Ercen will lead a discussion group on the in and outs of trading your Cobra up or down, seating will be at a premium for this group so get there early for a good seat. Whoops got to go Conehead Anderson and Shel just called at the same time, makes me wonder what they are up to now. They never call at the same time. Something must be up. More later.
Wayne Turpin |
Wayne,
I can't be there either. Start without me. I will be judging a French Poodle Show in Santa Malita. By the time I get all the poodle hair and the lipstick off, I would be late. TURK |
Excal: I was a Shelby fan for many years (I owned a GT-350 in the early 80's), now I'm a fan of the car. I DO applaud him for his accomplishments and what he's ment to racing. Don't you think his peers have recognized him for his achievments of the past? I feel they are thinking of him as a greedy old man today, though!
What he's been doing for the past few years, with the lawsuits and everything else, has been done out of greed and jealously (IMO). He can't stand the fact that others are making money off of a car (really, the body.....that wasn't even his) that he gave up on years ago. He's doing nothing more than trying to put the Cobra Replica industry out of business. He couldn't do it with the lawsuits, so now he's trying with a "new" South Africa roller sold at a much lower price than the cars he offers already (almost the same price as SPF's roller.......coincidence???) I have no problem with competition (it's what makes our country great - IMO), but this is how he should have gone about it from the beginning, (instead of going after people who didn't mind dropping 100+K on a car). Most people couldn't afford that, or simply felt his cars weren't worth the extra coin$ after researching some other companies and finding out others made great cars. He's burned a lot of bridges and ticked a lot of people / fans off these past few years. As for what he's doing for the automotive sport TODAY, I have no idea what you're speaking of - other than creating competition in the Roller market. I'm sure he's hoping that his new rollers will also create a wave of price DECREASES in the used Cobra market and lower the value of the "other" mfgr's replica's. Take that, all you "poor" guys that couldn't afford to purchase a CSX from Shelby America. You all deserve to loose money, you cheap ba$tards!! |
you go girl...
