Galaxie clock in a cobra?
A few original cobras I've seen have had a clock added to the dash, like this one from Mr. Kincade's site.
http://www.csxinfo.net/289cobra/csx2589/DSC00335.JPG You can see it in the middle of the dash below the other gages. Does anyone know what car that clock is from? I looked on ebay and it doesn't appear to be from a galaxie which is what I thought I read it came from. Any ideas? Chuck P.S. Just realized where I saw someone say it was from a galaxie. Rinsey Mills' book page 76, both interiors have clocks but the one I'm talking about is the bottom one (middle of the page) |

Chuck... the clock was from a 1962 Ford Galaxie 500...
|
Ah yes.
Ron you never cease to amaze me!
Thank you, I think I'll keep my eyes out for one. I think it would lend an air of authenticity to the car. Thanks, Chuck |
62 Galaxie
Chuck -
The Shelby part number for the clock is: S1CS-15000-A ; the Ford part number for the same piece is: C2AZ-15000-A (note the "Z" is a Service Part number, the Engineering number, which will appear on the part, will be "C2AF" instead of "C2AZ"). regards, Jeff |

Ron,
Are you sure that it would be correct twice a day ? The one that I had in my 62 Galaxie was so far off all the time that I don't think it was ever correct at any time. That is until it just quit ruunning about 4 months after I got the car. **) |
Ron(61),
I think Ron (CW) is assuming that any clock Chuck found would be in the same condition as yours was 4 months after you bought your car. Ron(CW)- you continue to amaze. How many photos do you have in your files- must be thousands? |
Chaplin,
I think that Ron (CW) amazes all of us. I have yet to see a question asked that he not only could answer but most of the time posted pictures to show. He has to have the most extensive knowledge and picture archives of anyone I have ever had the pleasure of reading their posts or asking questions. He has helped me many times and amazed me at how simple my problems were when he looked at them. Ron :o %/ |
Looks like the clock in the Cobra came with the automatic transmission option.....(figures) ha ha

I wonder if the Cobra pictured is one of the two "twin Paxton" cars...it looks like it's the right color blue, does not appear to have stripes, and those cars had C-6 automatics...

A clock in a Cobra? The last thing I want to know is when it's time to go home and put it away!
|
Hmm.... Good Point!
We always take off our watches when we go on vacation for just that reason... I may have to rethink this!

AND one of only a couple dozen ORIGINAL factory "Automatic" cars!

Here's a question about that original 289: Is that steering wheel center cap correct? I had the impression that all the 289s had an "AC" cap, but I am definitely not a trivia expert. **)
|
should be an "AC" center cap
Bob -
I'm pretty sure that should be an "AC" center cap. My guess is CHS had that changed on the car. I have seen instances where he even scratched out "AC" on someone's HAT! regards, Jeff |
He must have changed the shifter handle also,it wasn't available until 1969.
