radiator problem with 351c

I have a 351c in my Hunter and now that I can run it I have noticed that the overflow port on the Moroso T filler starts leaking at about 170 degrees.I changed caps(16 lbs) but still leaks. thought this should not happen untill greater than 200 degrees or so.I do not have a thermostat in place but that should make no difference, should it? chuck

You probably have air in your system.

Also: If you don't have room for expansion within the system, you need to use an overflow reservoir and a cap that allows coolant to be sucked back in.

Water Restrictor Plug

If you do not have a thermostat, you MUST have the "water restrictor" plug in the block of a 351C - it is located beneath the thermostat, and looks basically like a gutted thermostat. If you do not have the restrictor, your Cleveland will pump water through the radiator so fast that it does not have time to dissipate the heat.

regards,

Jeff

JEFF IS RIGHT ON. I USE A RESTICTOR ON MINE AND HAVE NO PROBLEM. I ALL USED A SUMMIT RACING OVERFLOW TANK.
