Removable center console / arm rest?
...any pics or great ideas on types of removable arm rest type center consoles for the tunnel between your seats?
A friend had one made for his car and it actually turned out pretty neat. Very functional. It sits down in between the two seats towards the rear of the tunnel. Its an arm/elbow rest, has storage inside for small items, and he has two cup holders in the front of it. Its tapered to so it fits like a glove. Can be removed in one second. Works nice for trips and all... If I get some pics this week, I'll post it. If you have some pics, it would be nice to see what others have come up with for ideas and designs on this. Thanks. |
Cup holders in a Cobra???? You whimp.....
(so, where can I get one)? Might be kind of handy with the hard top, side windows, A/C and sports bra on the front I'm planning for, LOL Ernie |
Ex, Yeah...I know... running out of things to do and ideas for the 2nd car. I'm starting to eye #3 now. Argh.
- this console thing is kind of neat to hold your cell phone, sets of ear plugs, walkie-talkies, and whatever junk we humans seem to carry with us. At first I thought it was sort of goofy, but after looking at my friends setup, and how he uses it, its pretty functional. It saves the right shoulder on those long drives. Another guy in our group has one that actually is a powered mini refrigerator for the 6-pack between the seats! It sort of functions as an arm rest too. For his wife really... I just stuff a leather shaving bag behind the seat with all the junk in it so things don't fly under my seats and all over. Removable is the key, so the whimp factor doesn't set in too much! :) |
A mini fridge!
Now you are talking. Have you seen the billet cup holders that the rodders use? Looks like a small aluminum oval in the dash. Push on it and out comes a cup holder. Probably would not look that bad in the dash. Of course there is always the back of the glove box door.

I just balance my supersized cup on the dashboard...You do have to adjust the angle of the windscreen to a more vertical position... Apparently you guys drive your cars a little harder than I do mine....:D :MECOOL:

rdoran,
those slimline inserts holders are pretty cool. Seen a few of those in Cobras already too; for us diehard coffee drinkers. Argh, I'm mixin leaded and unleaded these days myself to try and cut back. |
Casaleenie, we need to get you to a Solo II event!
Decooney, I thought they could even be black anodized if we wanted them a little less obvious. Some sort of swing out arrangement that hides behind the dash when not in use would be a good ticket as well. I remember the backs of glove boxes having places for cups but they where not very effective unless you where gently cruising. I thought about hinging access to the truck and a small compartment in the truck. Carpet right over the hinge and you would not even see the opening. Only a locking handle would be visable. I am going the glove box route! I want my cake and eat it to. Want an original look but with more of the features that make a car a little more 'livable'. But not at to high of an 'original' price! See the new "lockable" version Mike has at: http://www.secondstrike.com It's attached by velcro or screwed for the more permanent version. Various heights available. Top quality!

Didn't pay attention to the date. Jag has been sold, looking for something else now. Possibly another cobra.
