Spf coolant loss

Hey guys, is it normal to find about 4 tablespoons of radiator fluid under the puke tank after i drive car, i did add a bottle of water weter, the level in the expansion tank is half full, Thanks Gene

It's never normal to find fluid leaks. . ..

that depends

If ya drive it hard enough to get the anti-freeze up to a temp that allows pressure to get above the caps rating, sure you can have overflow.

On SPFs anyway (On both of mine), the puke tank is too low to allow a return on vacuum. And both of mine would have some in the catch can once in a while. Stop and go always did it for me.

Check the SCOF tech board too! :3DSMILE:

perhaps your system is slightly over filled for your set up. especially if it did not spit some fluid before you added the bottle of water wetter. if so, it will find its own normal level soon after a few more spoons full of fluid and should stop dribbling.

also, make sure both yourspf fans are working and both are PULLING so you are not short changing your cooling system. sometimes one of the fan connectors gets unplugged and when someone hooks them back up it inadvertently gets reversed, hence that one fan runs in reverse and would then become a pusher and not a puller , ie really screwing up your system. bill

I had a similar problem when my car was first delivered last year, as Eric said the coolent pressure was higher then the cap rating on the expansion tank so I changed the cap from a 7lb to a 13lb and that was that.

First of all you should have a 16 lb cap on the puke tank. Next make sure you get the air out of the system. Good method here is to loosen one of the fittings on the intake. I had air on my last SPF and had the same concern. My new car I loosen the water temp fitting on the intake when I was filling it and the air all came out and no concerns.................Also make sure everything is tight on the housing going to the intake. I have the new stainless puke tank and I had to do some modification to make it fit right as my was leaking also.
