Would the rings not being completly seated also cause me to get a bit of smoke when I've been for a run, stopped the car for ten or twenty minutes and then started it again?
Can't say I've noticed it on starting from cold (but then again I haven't been looking for it, usually have my eyes glued to the oil pressure)

My old Camry with 218,000 miles and original engine (It's a love hate tihing with that car, I love the reliable factor, HATE the stupid car) started smoking on "start up" real bad. At about 200K when the smoke started, I figured it's about time.........

Then one day I noticed the PC valve rubber gasket was all hard and broken. The PC valve couldn't get a good seal in the valve cover. I replaced the gasket and........WHOA,,,,like I over hauled the motor! NO more smoke! I reckon I'm good for another 100K or so.

I put a trIple baffled breather on one side and a PCV hookup to the carb on the other. No more blow by, 200 miles on the car. Learn something new all the time...

What do you think of putting the PCV valve directly into the intake manifold? I remember seeing pic of a setup where someone had drilled and tapped a hole in the cast-in boss on the back of the Edelbrock intake (see boss in attached pic). He had a screw in type PCV valve in the hole. From there, it was vented into the rear of the carb. He had two filter type breathers (one on each valve cover) for air intake into the crankcase. It was a very neat and clean looking setup.

I am just putting together a 427 CO and am toying with this idea.

Any suggestions?

MAN!!!! Re-size that pic to 640X480.

PUHLEEZE!!!

The PC Valve goes in the valve cover and the vacuum hose that attaches to it goes to an INTAKE MANIFOLD vacuum source. Like a drilled hole in the manifold.
