In Tennessee you have to get a policeman to inspect and sign
off on your antique tag app. - Well I happen to see a deputy (black) near the house - asked him. He said sure. He followed me to the house, I uncovered the Cobra - he looked it over - checked the serial #. The whole time he never said a word. He signed the app. The walked out of the garage and said "how do you like that Dodge"
refering to my Dodge PickUp.
Some people don't get it??

Recently two guys walked up to me and CSX 4206 reposing in the sunshine at a local car hop and said "hey, is that a REAL Cobra?"

I said "Yup"

One guys says "see I told you it was" and the other guys says !@$#% and peels of a $20 and gives it to first as they walk away.

Sorry couldn't resist.

Recently, a couple of guys walk up to a CSX 4--- reposing in the sunshine and asked the owner, hey, is that a real Cobra"?

He of course said "No , but it's a replica/copy of a car that Carroll Shelby built in the 60's".

One of the guys turns to the other one and says, "See I told you so, they only built about 1100 real Cobras".
Sorry, I couldn't resist.....

Talking My First Day in My New Car

Today was the first day having my Kirkham on the road - and what an amazing day it was. Started while at the DMV while sitting there I counted 14 different people snap pictures of my car. My son and I went cruising tonight for about an hour and heard various versions of nice car everywhere went - had pictures taken while at stop lights - it was absolutely a blast; to be frank, I think my 10 year old son enjoyed all of the attention more than I did.

Could not be happier!

Were you the one cruising Gateway over the weekend?

I'm in SLC too, there are a few of us around if you want to get together for the "once in a while" Utah Kirkham Owners" lunch....

My Cobra was part of the local high school Homecoming Parade - I drove around one of the Queen candidates (1 of 5 finalist) both through town and at half time on game night. She won! By the way, the Queen is my Great Niece.

Notice that she purchased a dress for the occasion that matched the Cobra.

The Cobra was also a huge hit!

If you ever have a chance to do this sort of thing - jump on it!

Here's the Cobra, the Queen and her date at the wheel....

Talking

Best one I've had was a car full of teenagers pulled up next to me. One yells out ( Hey you own me of pair of Jeans: I crapped when I seen your car ). I laughed all the way home.

I must admit... while there are a ton of great stories on this thread, this is one of the funniest!!

Can't wait to find my Cobra so I can start to experience this stuff!

I've been following this thread for about three years, since that's how long we have been working on our car. The car is not completely done, but it is finally inspected and titled.

The first real drive was to drop my daughter off at her drill team meeting as they got ready for a football game. Lots of shouts and thumbs up from the team as we pulled up. She was grinning from ear to ear as she got out.

Next stop was at Home Depot for some parts. Parked a bit away from the other cars and was getting out when a guy ran up and said he was sure I got this all the time, but would I mind if he took some pictures of the car.

Driving back home, several honks and thumbs up from other drivers.

Not bad for the first day on the road.

Still building mine, so I was in the garage working on it with the door open one Saturday. I see the elder / widow across the street come out for her mail. We make eye-contact and she begins crossing the street making a bee-line in my direction. I'm thinking, uh-oh, here it comes, she's going to start complaining about how noisy the car is and when my Cobra buddies come over and park in front of the houses with their noisy cars, yada yada yada.....
I'm thinking this is going to get ugly and the HOA is going to be visiting me after we "talk".
She marches up the driveway and asks me "When are you going to finish building it?".
I say I'll be driving it hopefully in the next couple months and have it painted over the winter.

She said "Good, I want a ride!" LOL!

Was out and about on Sunday "airing 'er out ", and two guys in a Taurus came barreling up in the lane to the left of me. The guy in the passenger rolls down the window and lets out a big "yeeeaaaahhhhhhh man" - so loud I could plainly hear him at 60mph over the sidepipes.

Then he ducks back in and comes back out with his camera phone. He hangs out the window (so far out that it kind of made me uncomfortable) and snaps a couple of pictures.

Gave him the "thanks" wave and they go on their merry way.

This is what happens when my Granddaughters Hoppy insisted that I go to the Track strip with him. I am just too old for all that.

Evan...SHAME ON YOU!!! You misled those two guys. You SHOULD have asked them THEIR definition of a REAL Cobra!!! I will bet you $100 that they really meant if your car was an ORIGINAL Cobra, manufactured in the 1960's, worth well over $300,000!!! THIS is why people give you a hard time here!!!
