KMP 266 arrives Saturday
After a few delays, Rich Lacey picked up my car Tuesday and it should arrive late tomorrow or early Saturday.Still putting in carpet and working out brake problems with the Hunter, but looking forward to the new project.If any one has an extra Sideoiler laying around give me a call. chuck

I have a brand new complete aluminum Shelby BB stroker motor built by Southern Automotive that is sitting in their showroom. I am awaiting a KMP ss car, but I told David K not to bust his hump getting it to me prior to mid-January as it is about to turn into winter here in the Northeast. I told Bill Parham that he could feel free to sell my motor to someone who needed one right away as long as he was certain that he could build me another one by mid-January. It's no big deal to me since I have already fully paid for a motor from Bill, I just don't need one as soon as I initially thought. If interested, give Bill a call for specs and price. He could send it out right away if you really gotta have it "now". |

I cannot remember the exact cost, but it was right around $20k. The build specs were pretty nice and it had the Southern Automotive "bullet proof" bottom end with the Chevy-type rod design. Bill Parham guided me through the build spec selection and I basically ordered what he recommended. I haven't even seen it, but TC told me that it looked pretty nice. It was set-up with a single carb and turkey pan. If you wanted dual carbs, it shouldn't take Southern too much time to make the swap. I think their regular build time is a couple of months, so you could save a little time this way. Give Bill Parham a call. Southern is one of the CC advertisers, so there is a link on this site to their web site. I am not trying to sell this motor for my own benefit at all, I just though that since I won't be needing a motor until 2004, someone in immediate need might be able to put it to good use sooner. Bill can always build me another one. B/t/w, I am interested to hear how you like your KMP SS. I won't get a glimpse of mine for a while. |
Chuck, I have seen Lew's motor not just finished but during assembly. It's sweet. Also, although Greenville to McDonough is mot like driving to the 7-11, it is not the worst trip in the world. Maybe take a day off for a Cobra holiday and check it out? I used to go quarterly, I now go monthly, and may soon go weekly, it's that therapeutic.

I did go to SA when they hosted the DSCC.I had a great time looking around and would certainly consider them to build my motor.I am still debating the aluminum block vrs. iron issue. I realize the advantages of the Shelby block but like the authenticity of the old technology,in fact, I would prefer a non stroker setup(real 427) maybe give in to aluminum heads though. I also need a tranny and I hear they do toploaders.I am considering a nascar with wide ratio gears to go with a 3.07 diff. chuck

Chuck, they do Toploaders, believe me, they have been doing many lately as well as driveshafts which are a work of art, as are the trannys. I have turned them into one of the best places to buy a TopLoader for Kirkham . This is one time I ask them to post to confirm :) .

If you want a 427 Side oiler NOS block based NON stroked engine with Shelby Aliminum heads and with the 427 steel crank , give George Anderson a call. The intake has not been selected yet, and I have a change in plans, you can have it if you want and specify the rest of the build. Cam, the intake carburation etc. TURK |

KMP 266 is safe in the garage.It arrived by Rich Lacey transport at 9 pm.The stainless steel frame is awsome as is the rest of the car.Hopefully my kids can teach me how to post pics. chuck
