<Please Read> Member Search Advancements...

Ok, if you look at the member list now, you'll see fields for "Cobra make, Engine", "City" and "State".

You can now search on these as well using the advanced search in the member list. So if you are looking for everyone who owns a shell valley car, go to the advanced search and type in "shell" in the cobra make, engine field and then you'll see all the members who own them.

NEED YOUR HELP WITH THIS:

I changed the old field for "location" to "City" and added a new two letter field for sate. Please update the city and state fields in your profile by going here: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/memb...on=editprofile

Enjoy.

Great, Brent.

Also note that with the new fields, when you edit your location, you now MUST enter a value for the Country. (e.g., USA) as well.

Brent Mills 11-24-2003 02:52 PM

Good point on the required country field....Forgot I did that.

As well, if anyone finds any bugs, let me know. I think it's all good, but I'm usually wrong, so.... :)

maybe I just need to be hit upside the head a few times with a blunt object but is it possible to access a member's gallery from their page? Or would it be possible to put a link from there so that one could access the photos they have posted from there?

Hold on let me get the chicken wire...

OK, start throwing! :D

Any chance you could make the city field optional? All the better to LURK, ya' know.

Brent,
Your ozzie mates across the big pond have a three letter prefix for their state and you only allow for a two letter prefix.
I have had to put all the info in the city box.
Keep up the good work on a brilliant site.:3DSMILE:

Bryan

Brent or Ron (CW),

Ok, I know this is my problem and I am missing something but I corrected my profile to include usa as Ron said and have the city and state already in it. So I decided to try a search for my own name and I can't find me. I put in ron in the name field, shasta lake in the city field, ca, in the state, and usa in the country. The search came back blank so I guess I don't exist. What did I leave out or do wrong ?

Ron

computerworks 11-25-2003 07:12 AM

got some editing to do in your profile..

"Shasta Lake, Calif."

... you can take out the ', Calif.' in the City field

and..."Country Uunied States"

...oops
:D

Ron61 11-25-2003 07:36 AM

Ron,

I made the changes in my profile and put usa instead of Unites States. Also removed Calif from the city state and put CA in the state slot.
Then I did a search with the following. ron , posts over 1000 ,city shasta lake, country usa ,type of car or motor 351 stroked to 416 and still came up blank.
I have never had much luck using the member search function and I know it is something that I am missing. When using the name just ron, should I use the wildcard after it to cover any additions, 61, 227 ect.

Thanks,

Ron

When searching by fields in a database engine.... LESS IS MORE.

I think you are over-specifying the criteria; as such, a simple typo or stray punctuation mark screws up the query.

When I search for 'shasta' in the city field, I get...
mike whaley and Ron61

When I search for '416' in the Cobra field, I get...

4 hits including you. (two of the others have 416 in their s/n, one has 416 in his carb number)

Try the search function with less, less, less info in the criteria boxes and see how you make out.

Thanks Ron. I figured it was something that I was doing.

For the Aussie's in the group, there's three spaces now. :)

Ron, looks like you're squared away.

Tongue Pirate, I'll work on adding the link to the gallery. Good idea.

Lurk, it's now optional.

Brent Mills 11-27-2003 09:46 PM

Tongue Pirate, I finished adding the links to the photo galleries. Enjoy.
