Side Stripes

What the meaning ???????? I've seen them with one line
and two. I've seen them on one side and I've seen them
on both sides..

TR.. they are called "team stripes" and usually appear on the drivers side.

The purpose was to easily tell apart the different cars of the same team during a race.. since usually all the cars were painted the same color. They really is no significance to the color and they are most often double-stripes...
...early 289s had one broad stripe from fender to fender.

Ron-
Are you aware of anyone who sells static cling team stripes? I have seen the static cling rondels, but not the team stripes.

rdorman 11-24-2003 09:50 AM

Any sign shop will make them for you or you could just trim them right off a roll if you can find it in the width you are looking for.

The car pictured, the stripes really aren't crooked are they?

Rick-
Stupid question (not like that's ever stopped me before), but trim them off of a roll of what? Are they made out of vinyl?

computerworks 11-24-2003 09:57 AM

Rick... that's a scanner artifact... (I hope);)

I can't give you the name of a product but I know it some sort of static cling vinyl. Talk to the ricers. All that crap they put on their car is that type of product (I think). But a sign shop would probably have it for a lot less.

Those custom shops can take any design you want, load into the computer, and then run it off. But you pay!

No.. look at the "fence slats" in the rear... it's just a bad picture scan.

G.R. 11-24-2003 11:22 AM

Enzo has them;

about $30 pair only show yellow in the on-line catalog

skippy 11-24-2003 11:57 AM

Damn you guys always make me laugh. I too looked at the photo and was worried more about the uneven stripes than his question. (Sorry no offence.)

Chaplin 11-24-2003 12:26 PM

Thanks G.R.
I checked Enzo's a while ago, I must have missed them.

They are available in yellow or red.

I've purchased several items (including a windshield) from Enzo - great experience and everything fit perfectly.

I'm also considering a strip.

The stripes are good. My scan came out bad.

Edley Rondinone 11-24-2003 08:25 PM

I call my stripes the "Thousand-Chevys-Beaten" awards......for every 1000 Chevys, Corvettes, Camaros, etc that I beat whilst racing, I get another stripe!!! lol !!!
