Best fitting Cobra car cover
I'm sure this has been covered before on this forum, and if I did a search I would find a lot of info, but with Christmas right around the corner (and a nice cover would make a great gift!), I thought I would bring it up for discussion.
I'm looking for a really good fitting Cobra cover with a soft (maybe flannel) underside. It doesn't have to be weather proof, because the car will always be parked in the garage at night. I've looked at SPF's cover and I feel it doesn't come down low enough. Branda and Finish Line have pretty good looking covers that (according to what I can see in the pictures) seem to fit fairly well. Then I noticed a couple covers in 2 different magazines I have, and they show a Cobra with one of their "custom" covers installed and it looks awsome. One company is called: T.J. Cars (ad in the DuPont Registry) and the other is called: Cover Craft (they have an ad in a magazine called AutoSport). Both companies show the same Red and White Cobra in their ad, and the covers are very similar. They are very nicely fitted, and even have a separate pocket for the roll bar. This way, the cover is in more contact with the car, instead of having "air gaps" / pockets which is where dust collects. First of all, I'm wondering if anyone has ordered a cover from one of these companies, and if so, how do you like it? They sent me a measuring sheet in the mail and I have to take 38 measurements of the car in different areas. They say they have 43,000 car patterns available on file (I'm sure an SPF is in there somewhere!), but they said they like to have Cobra car owners measure their car because there are so many different replica companies out there, and their shapes vary from mfg to mfg. I'd like to order a cover from SOMEONE by the end of the week, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know! Also, if anyone is interested in ordering one for themselves, let me know and I'll see if they would be willing to do a multi-order discount. |
Terry,I can recommend California Car Cover Company as far as quality of fit,and service.Haven't ordered a cover for my Cobra(as it hasn't been built yet),but the cover they custom made for my Celica fit like a second skin.It has full ground effects including a 9" wing on the trunk,so required a few measurements. After 2 years of daily baking in the hot California sun,it started to deteriorate, and they sent me a new one ASAP that fit even better than the first at no charge. It is made of Nectec(Weathershield),but they offer the softest flannels as well as the widest selection of other fabrics I have seen.I plan to order 2 covers for my car-a flannel for in the garage, and a Nectec for away from home because it's waterproof, offers extreme UV protection, and allows no dust underneath. My red paint looks factory new after years. It's another lead anyway.I have dealt with Autosport for detailing products, and can recommend them as well.Good luck, and let us know how the search goes!

Terry ~ your neighbor and I both ordered the Noah covers from Califfornia Car Cover and Dave took all of the measurements that they wanted. Ask Dave if he still has the paperwork or at least the order number.
If you really want to protect your cobra, try one of these..... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...080009-med.jpg Brian |
California Car Cover
I highly recommend California Car Cover. The cover I got from them fits my 289 FIA car "like a glove". They even had a pattern for the "289 FIA" bodystyle. It has a soft flannel lining that does not scratch the paint, and fits snugly all around the car. Many covers I've seen are so loose that they merely "drape" the car, and any light breeze could blow it right off the car.
I also ordered one of their covers for my '65 Mustang convertible - it fits very nicely, too. regards, Jeff |
Whats the Duty?
I have a Noah from CCC which I take with me on the road. It works quite well for outdoor protection, but melts instantly if it touches hot side pipes.
If indoor protection is your desire, then Finish Line's flannel cover is the best on the market: http://www.cobraaccessories.com/cata...products_id=89 I've had mine for 4 years, had it dry cleaned once.... still like new, and ever so soft on the finish. Zderf :3DSMILE: |
Mine is the ERA cover from ERA. It is a yellowish tan color and is very soft, and thick. It fits perfectly and after 11 years of use indoors the paint job is still as if showroom new. What more can I say? I do not know where ERA gets this cover from but it is just so perfect that one need look no further. Mine has the roll bar accomodation.

Thats cool!! Who's the naked woman in the corner??? |
Brian: I love those air bubbles......but I don't have that kind of space in my garage (wish I did!). I sent Dave an e-mail asking him about the Califirnia Car Covers and if he still has his measurement sheet. I just finished with the sheet they (CoverCraft) sent me......took me almost an hour to do all the measuring they asked for! My worry is that I didn't measure correctly (it's hard to tell exactly what they want from their order sheet) and that it won't fit properly. The one I'm looking at is called the "Dustop". They also carry Noah, Evolution 4, Sunbrella, and Weathrshield fabric covers. You & Dave should have called me.....I would have gone in on a cover with you guys and maybe we could have gotten a multi-order discount!
Do you guys with California Car Covers know if they have a seperate pocket for the roll bar, or is the cover just stretched over the entire car?? Redsc: I've seen the ERA covers and they are nice. I don't think they would fit an SPF though........my butt is too "perky"!:3DSMILE: |
Terry, FWIW, I use a Noah car cover from California Car Cover for my '93 Corvette. A great cover and a great company to work with. The Cali sunshine broke down my cover after 3.5 years and they still gave me a new one (I only had to pay a $15 shipping cost....big deal!).
Please let me know what CCC tells you, because I too might soon be in the market for a soft flannel cover (i.e. better than the factory cover that SPF provides). Regards, -Deano |
I have the Superweave from California Car Covers. This the second cover I owned from them. Had the Noah cover also. The Superweave alows zero dust and is waterproff although the seams are not taped. The Superweave is not bulky and fits my 427 S/C great. Stretches over the Roll Bar, and fits arounf the Windwings. I just ordered there cover for a 427 S/C and it fits fine!

Shouldn't be surprizing that Shelby carries a great cover for outside protection...provision for the rollbar. I do not know if they have a flanel, etc. for inside use.

Hi
Yeah the blow up cover certainly looks great. I recently ordered a flannel type cover and I have had this style/type of cover before. They can be washed easily at the laundry down the street in the big industrial machines. %/ Oh yeah did the blow up woman in the corner come with the cover  Cheers Bernie Bernie Knight Mt.
