casaleenie 12-19-2003 09:28 PM

That's kind of interesting...

Someone did a pretty nice job of doing something to something but I'm not really sure what that something is.....

Trueoo7 12-19-2003 09:30 PM

He BETTER deliver it anywhere if he wants to sell that contraption !!

Turk 12-19-2003 10:03 PM

What's wrong with it?

TURK

Jim Colman 12-19-2003 10:17 PM

Turk,
Obviously you're a complete noob if you can't see that the tail lights are from a 65' COB series instead of the proper 66' CSX series. Also, it appears that the builder used the wrong wheel offset and anyone can see that the car sits .005 too high. Some people just don't know their cars. Sheesh!!

Jim

Tongue Pirate 12-19-2003 10:47 PM

You think ol' Caroll's gonna try to put them out of business:o

Okiesnake 12-19-2003 10:48 PM

I think its called an MGsoB!

Turk 12-19-2003 10:54 PM

You know, I missed the lights completely. You guys have keen eyes..

Next time I will look more carefully.

TURK
"noob"?

Gordon Claunch 12-19-2003 11:00 PM

I was thinking "BOOB"

Bugman 12-20-2003 03:03 AM

Ya know, if he just puts a giant wing on the back he could sell it to a ricer and double his asking price.

Slow Dawg 12-20-2003 05:35 AM

Nope. Can't sell it to the ricer crowd. Motor's too big. Needs to be a turbo'd 4 cylinder with a "Fart Pipe" to make it sound like a coffee can filled with a bunch of pissed off bees.

Bugman 12-20-2003 06:01 AM

Okay, just unplug every other cylinder and take a drill to the exhaust and it'll be set to go!

Tony Radford 12-20-2003 06:19 AM

I must be the noob. It's nothing like a Cobra, but I've seen a lot of cars I like less. I used to have an MG many years ago. In retrospect, it would have been more fun with a V8. Shifter has got to go, but interesting concept.

petek 12-20-2003 03:37 PM

If it had a rear-mounted VW flat four I might be interested...

:)

djseed 12-20-2003 04:32 PM

That MG frame is going to twist like a wet noodle and then the rear end will blow as soon he stands on it. Been there, done that.

Jack21 12-20-2003 04:46 PM

You guys all have short memories. People built 289 Ford powered TR-4's, and 283 Chevy powered Healy's and kicked serious butt with them. (Cross Bay Blvd., Queens, NY, early '60's)) And there's a white 351W powered TR-6 still doing it in the DC burbs today.

The builder made two mistakes. First he grafted an ersatz Cobra nose onto a perfectly good MG. Second, he blasphemously called it a Cobra instead of what it really is, an MGV8. Who does he think he's fooling? But you're right, some ricer in So. Amboy will buy it, bolt the requisite purple taillights to the lower rear shock mounts, gut the sidepipes into straight pipes, and be the neighborhood Mr. Cool with it.

If the underpinnings, driveline, cooling, etc., are crafted well, he should easily get his $10K for it. We've all seen some halfheartedly thrown together Cobras looking a lot worse, for a lot more money.

T. P. If I remember correctly, "TURK" The Great coined that term several months ago. I try to use it every chance I get. It's a good one.
