emission testing
I am trying to nail down the emission requirements for a new SPF Cobra that will be first registered in Ohio..as what i don't know.
My issue is I might relocate (job) down the road and would like to double check the difficulties of registering and passing emissions without paying fines and all the hassles I am reading on this site. Some states are easier than others yet some I see where I could be trapped. I will not be moving to California. I am looking to go with a new block engine. Is that a mistake based on my circumstance? Does anyone have web site addresses or factual information for the following States? Ohio Pennsylvania Maryland Virginia Texas Illinois Delaware Thank you very much. |
I figured out PA, Ohio and Maryland. Can anyone help out with the other states?

Search the archives for "good news on Texas Inspections". A year or so ago, this was an excellent post on the positions taken by the EPA in general and Texas in particular.
BTW, Just today I was successful in getting mine inspected WITHOUT an emissions...using the information in the above-mentioned post. |
I have read the cite you stated. I am currently waiting for my Backdraft and will title in Texas. I am curious on how you titled your Lone Star (Year, model,etc.). Also what does your insurance card say (year & model). Any problems with DPS in titling? What insurance carrier did you use? Thanks for any further help you can provide.

Maybe you should move to Canada. The Ministry Of Transport Ontario (MTO), has determined that Kit Cars are cared for and maintained far better than the regular cars owned by the balance of the driving population. Therefore, Kit Cars are EXEMPT from emmissions Testing. Mike |

One of the drivers behind choosing LoneStar is that they are a licensed motor vehicle dealer in Texas. As such, they handle the initial titling, etc. In my case, it is registered as a 2003 manufactured vehicle. State Farm was willing to insure it, but the card looks funny. It is listed as a "Ford Shelby"...apparently this was the closest thing they could find in the multiple-choice world. As I understand it, these cars must be registered for the year in which they are first licensed (in my case January 2003). Good Luck. :3DSMILE: |
