please HELP with buying advice
I am looking to buy a cobra. I am willing to spend up to 40,000 i would rather 35.000. I need help as to what to look for and what to stay away from. I like the factory-five look but am open to all makes and i want extra horses over 400hp. I want the best bang for my buck but more importantly i want it to be dependable. As close to a daily driver as possable. And I want a well balanced car. Good handling and lighting fast with good brakes. Please let me know what direction i should look to. Engine, make, supension and other areas of concentration. All help and sugestions are greatly apreciated.:D :D

My advice is to ride in a Cobra first, several if you can. If you have never owned a hi performance automobile beofre, you best bang for the buck may or may not be a car with as much HP as you would like. Remember, most of these cars weigh in around 2,200lbs.........With that type of power to weight ratio, if you don't have the experience, you could end up in a pine box.
Now with that said, I suggest coil over suspension equipped cars, along with four wheel disk brakes if you can get them. Whether you get a BB or a SB, fuel injected and blown, or naturally aspirated, is strictly up to you....I've had them all (I've had 351/385hp(2), 347 stroker with a vortec(1) 427/465hp(1), 302/345hp(2), , and loved each and every one of them for what they were, and what they had to offer.....Guess it all depends what your ultimately going to do with the car....Road race it, drag race it, or just drive it on the street............. Just my two rambling cents worth on this particular subject. Bill S. |
I had similiar dollar figure to spend and went with a backdraft from anthem motors. 392 crate engine, 4 wheel disks, IRS, covers your requirements...backdraft is worth a look. I have pics of mine in my gallery. My total cost was 40,315 but I could have saved 1200.00 if I didnt get the oil cooler and ceramic exhaust. Good luck, the research is half the fun. Lots of good mfg's out there but the backdraft seemed to be best suited for me.
