Poll: "Codename Daisy" - New Shelby Cobra
Well, for those of you who saw the TLC/Rides special, what do you think about the semi-secret project and the prototype?
A nice story and tribute to the man himself. Place your vote. I hope I can still do doughnuts at age 80+ http://media.ford.com/newsroom/image...a_FrontQtr.jpg More links to the Ford site on the car. http://media.ford.com/newsroom/featu...?release=16649 |
Like most others have already said here, I'm put off by the angularity. Those edges translated well for the new Mustang and the GT40 because those originals had quite a few flat surfaces and straight lines in them. Trying to flatten out and modernize the Cobra doesn't work for me. Do think the flatness of the car below the waist (front lip spoiler, side ground effects) seem necessary for better areodynamics, and don't seem too awful. But the top of the car (especially the line of the doors) has no visual flow to it at all. Let the Mitsubishi Eclipse references begin!
MT ps - The car really needs some modern versions of the Halibrand style wheels! But I think the car's mouth is about the only part that really captured the original's style in a modern way with any kind of effectiveness. |
.....6:20 pm,,,,,,,have to,,,,,hold on,,,,till 9 somehow,,,,must see Daisy......

Daisy
Rumors say that the car has been around for a few years and possibly had a twin turbo V-6 at one point which seems to fit the design better than the V-10. Also, I don't get the feeling Shelby really had much to do with it. It appears like a last minute after the Ford/Shelby deal push for press. Regardless, it won't appeal to all on this sight. Same as the Series One but, that was built by Shelby.
Also... Rumor has it that Shelby is not really 81...... ....only 77 plus tax!! |
Remember the prototype Mustang "Mach" featured in various magazines 5-6 years ago?
It was a roadster and looked sort of like this car as I recall. Maybe when they decided to go with a retro 67/68 style Mustang for the new Mustang, the "Mach" became the new Shelby Cobra.... As soon as I saw it I wondered if this is where it came from. Who knows? Hey Jamo Sorry I missed your poll... as soon as i saw the TLC special, I looked for others and did not see it. Scary that all of us Cobra geeks think too much alike. Its a disease ya know! |

I thought she was pretty hot back in the day. ...But have you seen her lately? http://www.dodgerblues.com/images/lookalikes/granny.gif ....I'll equate the new Cobra to picture #2. |
Now that's more like it:eek:
