Steve, I don'tknow about guys stuffing 427's into FFR Cobras. An awful lot of FFR guys are into racing and the 427 nowadays is just a showcar engine. I go to a lot of Cobra track events and BB's are rare. The few shows I have been to are dominated by BB's.
Different strokes you know. Cranky |
That's my point, they're mostly going with 302/351 setups. Many of the big block setups aren't FE but 385 series. I'm sure some people would like a body that matches their engine. You can setup a 302 to look like a vintage 289 without too much expense. Heck, maybe for the cost of a 428 core.

This one is easy for me .....I think the subtle lines and pure sports car looks of the "slabside" make it a more classically handsome car.
Though I have never driven one , I did own a 57 MGA and a 64 TR4..the power to weight ratio of those cars was a little on the light side but i did love the predictability of the drive.....after several years with my 427, it is still a hand full ......... I have never found that driving comfort level I had with my other brit cars..... I imagine the slabside could be the perfect car for me. How about a slabside hybrid with a 427 suspension..and say a 300 horse small block ....I think that would be a beautifull driver. KK |

I think you are on the money. The 427 suspension and modern brake story along with a 345HP crate motor with the correct valve covers and trim under the hood would delight us all.
