Mid-day romp...people are CRAZY!!
My story will never sound as good as one of Hal Copple's, so I won't even go there!
I had to haul #747 down to my Allstate agent at lunch today. They wanted to check the car in person, do their little checklist and get a copy of the appraisal. A relatively short jaunt (5 miles each way with about 20 stop lights) right through the heart of Yorba Linda....almost a straight line. So I strap on the 4-point (for looks, of course....it just looks so much cooler when you have those shoulder belts on :D ) and thunder down the road. A guy to the right of me nearly rear-ends an SUV after following me for about 1/4 mile and not paying attention. Then on the way back, this lady driving an SUV starts driving really erradic and I'm thinking to myself "WTF?!?". She pulls up on my right side and rolls down her left rear window. Her two kids (maybe ages 5-7) stick half their bodies out of the window to check out the car, pointing the whole time. Having kids of my own, I wanted to give them a polite wave back, but then I started thinking "Damn! Those kids are not buckled in!" I'm sure she's a good Mom, but that was a moment of stupidity. So I get finally get home and pull her into the garage. About 5 minutes later the wifey starts complaining of the exhaust odor working its way into the house (I closed the garage door). "You better find a better place to park that car....it's making me sick!" %/ I learned Rule #1....After a drive, leave the garage door up and let the car vent a little. Rule #2....After a drive, enter the house from the front door and not the garage door. I might set up a portable fan so that I can direct the beast's breath out to the street side. :D -Deano |

I find that the exhaust from my car smells worse when I first start it. All I do is fire it up, back it out of the garage as soon as possible, push the button for the automatic garage door, and blast off. When I come back, I normally do leave the garage door open for a while to get all of the exhaust smell out before closing it up for the night. However, it sounds like I am luckier than you since my wife loves everything about the Cobra including the smell and the noise. She always wants me to run around with open exhaust. I hate it when a 198? Honda worth $100 tries to get up right beside me to get a good look. I always wonder if that crate has any brakes, let alone insurance. I think it is really funny when the driver of the same hundred dollar crap can starts to rev it up at a red light. What does he expect me to do, be impressed with his mellon shooter tail pipe? Wayne |
