Codename: Daisey
After seeing "Daisey" tonight on rides, I'm thinking Ford hasn't missed the mark too far. I looked at the grin on Mr. Shelby's face as he did burnouts and I realized what this must mean to him.
We've all taken our shots at the old boy and he's probably earned some of them, but what a history and what a way to finish a lifetime of work! After seeing an evolution of cosmetic changes done by two talented members, and seeing the car live, I'd say it only really takes getting the nose right to make it REALLY say COBRA to us and to the world......and the potential buyers. I'd like to ask now, what is the least amount of change to the new design that would make it "work" ? I vote for making the nose opening oval instead of it's current inverted "U". with no other changes. Would that do enough? Buzz or Ernesto or both, would you be so kind as to post a pic with this modification only? Al |
That show was AWESOME. After seeing it, I also feel more accepting of the new car.

I attended the Detroit Auto Show today and can honestly say that I thought the car looked better on TV than in person.
Brian p.s. just my opinion |
Brian,
Funny how that works. I get the same feeling in reverse with an original Cobra. TV just doesn't give the real impact of a Cobra up close and personal.....especially when it is running! Al |
Man did you catch the exhaust note on the V-10 when they fired it up? I haven't heard such brute power in all my life.
|
I watched the show tonite for the second time ....I must admit it is growing on me.....and I like the inverted nose "as is", it evokes the 289 front end , that has that strange tragic/fierce look about it...
....I really dont care much for the dash though..looks like a mid seventies stereo front.......and what is the deal with that shifter pedestal,.,, KK |
I wonder if any of the "public" input will affect the final design? We've certainly disected the beast on CC.
I must admit, I did like the sound at rpm. 3.7 for 0-60 and 193mph top end.....at least that's what their computer says. Sounds like Cobra territory to me. I still don't like the nose of the darned thing. It's funny too, that more and more auto makers are going to the "retro" look with the gauges. I'd love to see a set of Smith's gauges in the dash with the 180mph reverse speedo. That shifter looks kind of like Boyd Coddington's "billet" stuff to me, but I'll bet it shifts a lot better than the old Ford linkage did. Who knows, Hurst may have had a hand in it. Anybody know about that? Al |

Nothing but a nose job for Al.

Thanks Buzz!
Just what I was after. Now, to me at least, that helps a lot to get rid of the ricer look. With only this small change, I could see myself driving it. Anybody else? I wonder if Ford/Shelby will pick up on this small change and the difference it could make in the car's appeal factor. Al |
The only improvement I would make to that photo is me sitting in the driver's seat with the wheel in my left hand and a Viper's pink slip in my right!!

BUZZ: Please add round headlamps for me , if you would!

About the only thing I like on the car is the hood scoop.....and the ENGINE! That retro looking dash has GOT to go. WHo is demanding this retro / 60's-70's style thing anyway? The wife and I went looking for furniture last weekend and everything is chrome with strange silver knobs, and skinny legs! I didn't like the look when it was "in".......let alone today!
Put the new Cobra's engine in a Series1 body and I would be happy! Buzz did a great job on the car in another thread. Ship it to FORD and see what happens. |
