paging 750hp
Hey,
I was wondering how the quest for power is going down there in the outback. What was the last set of numbers you got at the dyno or track (if you've done anything since we talked last, you have to be getting close to the four-digit mark on horses;) ). Also... do you have any video clips of the car in action or any sound bytes?? I'm really hoping I can see that beast run! -Kevin |
Hi Kevin - it's all quiet on the Cobra front over here. I haven't even driven the car for a month or so. Haven't even lifted the car cover.....
It's so cheap to run when you don't run it !!!!!! Seriously though, I'd like to put the motor into another car of mine, and bolt on a couple of BIG turbos. The short-block can handle much more power than it's currently making, and the other car will be able to get more of it to the ground. A replacement cheapo motor in the Cobra should still make 600 - 700hp with the blower, so I'll have two fun cars to drive. I really want to get some video of the car out on a track shortly. A friend of mine just bought a digital video, so I can see my Cobra lining up against his 500+ cube, 13:1 compression Chevy at the local dragstrip soon. ....or as soon as I get a racing harness and fire system fitted... The only current video that I have was from the engine dyno, but the noise made the speakers distort BIG-TIME, which makes it pretty painful to watch ! I'll get some onboard footage shortly (with maybe a bit of a burnout thrown in for good measure ;) ) |
Craig, now THAT'S what I like to hear:D Can't wait to see it in action!!
|
By the way... what car would the motor go into??
|
Kevin - I've had the car out on the road a bit more in the last week. It's nice to hear those sidepipes come alive again !
The other car that I've considered putting the motor into is an old Fairmont that I've owned for about 15 years. It currently has a 460 big block, but I think a high HP small block would fit just nicely... I have a tiny video clip of the Cobra. Very low res, and the sound is pretty ordinary (Canon A70 camera). Send me your email address to cobraracer(at)yahoo.com and I'll send it over. It's nothing special, but at least it's prrof that my car actually can move under it's own power. Certainly makes a change from all the towing and pushing when we were building it ! See you, Craig |
