Freight in America
Hey there everyone.
I have been offered some room in a shipping container from California to my front door and was wondering if I buy parts from either new suppliers or from ebay will the freight companies pickup and deliver items to a shipping container? The container will have a jimco buggy in it that is being built for a friend at work and I suppose they can put the stuff either with the car or in the container. Do any of your seat suppliers make seats that look similar to the originals only with removable head rests? Do any of you have web links to companies selling shockies and springs? Thanks for any help, I am sure I have more questions but my brain has turned to mush and I cant think. |

My Classic Roadster has very comfortable seats that look like the originals and have removable headrests. Mine is a '92. I don't know for sure if the new Classic Roadster II has the headrests or not. Go to the Classic Roadster forum and ask Don Scott he is the new owner of Classic. Paul |

When I check the link for the springs and shockies, some of the suppliers have different compression and rebound rates, what is recomended/sugested rates in a Cobra that will be used for driveing around town, alot of highway cruiseing and maybe alittle track time, (very little) Mainly needed for comfort |

Thanks Craig, I have sent an e-mail to Ian aswell, but not sure if he will tell me the numbers I need as he may want to sell me the springs and shocks he sells?

From everything that current CR owners have said about Ian, I'd be dumbfounded if he didn't help you. In any case, King springs are pretty cheap over here anyway...

I wasnt implying that he wouldnt tell me what I need to know as Ian is a top notch guy.

Boxhead, it should be no problem to get the supplies you need into the container, but you WILL need the either a freight forwarder or the company that is putting the buggy into the can to do the paperwork. Export paperwork can be a pain on both ends. So make sure your friend as a willing participant in the US to make the commercial invoices and import/export documents. Otherwise his ride can get hung up in customs while you try and sort your sh*t out.

Freight forwarders consolidate shipments all the time. That is what they do. Your container is in the control of a specific freight forwarder. You will want to contact them directly for instructions, addresses, documentation preparation cost. Consolidating may be cheaper, but not free. If the container already has an established shipping date, it may complicate matters. Boats don't wait for anyone. Chuck |
