Master Cylinder Mounting
Do master cylinders usually come with a long enough pushrod so that you don't have to mount them directly to the flange on the pedals? For instance...in mounting my Wilwood pedals in my car, could I have the master cylinders on the outside of the footbox...with a layer of fiberglass between the mounting flange on the master cylinder and the mounting flange on the pedal? Or will the pushrods be too short for this?

I don't think this is a yes or no answer. I would say that in general the pushrods are long enough for a piece of metal in there but glass may be to thick. You don't want the brake peddle to over center when depressed. If that is the case, you will need to adjust it out. I ended up putting longer pushrods in my car because the peddle over centered and I could not adjust them out far enough to fit my preference in peddle location. I bought some LONG rods from ARP (get the local) and then 'machined' the head to match my girling master cylinders. I am sure that Girling has longer pushrods but I did not feel like waiting!
For your setup I spoke to wilwood about that. They said 3.5" rods PLUS the firewall thickness.

Are they hard to change out? They don't look like they thread, but are attached to the piston....

I just received the master cylinder....the pushrod length from the flange to the tip is 3.75". I don't think my fiberglass is 1/4" thick....that should work fine.

I don't know about wilwood but on girling there is a snap ring and a cup washer that holds the pushrod in place. Just DO NOT put that cup washer in backwards! Also, resist the temptation to make a rod longer!
