Trunk latch

I have a question for all of you Classic Cobra owners out there. Does anyone know what the trunk latch they sell as part of the kit is from? I am finishing up a car and can not get them to send me the latch. I have been waiting for months and at one time they said it was on the way but it never showed.
If anyone can tell me were to find one I would be most grateful.

Check with Paula or Enzo at the Finish Line.

Did that they did not have anything we could use.

Bruce:

There are two trunk latches that are commonly used. The difference is the width between the mounting holes. One is 36mm from mounting hole centerpoint to centerpoint, and the other is 44mm. Your car may accommodate either. Correct for original cars is 36mm.

A great source for original Cobra parts is Holden Spares. Their website is www.holden.co.uk. I bought the majority of my body hardware (it is OEM) from them. Their prices are fair, and they ship promptly. Surprisingly, although they ship from "across the pond" the shipping costs are comparable with domestic companies.

Bud,

Thanks for the hint but the OEM style will not work on this car due to license plate placement. The Classic uses a spring loaded latch and pin set up no the OEM turn hook type. The outside handle on this car will be a fake and the trunk will be opened by an electric solenoid with a hidden switch.

Beleive it or not but most of the trunk latches that are used are the same as those used on most truck camper shells.....FYI:D

I can not use the turn style latch like on a camper.
It must be a pin and spring loaded latch like on your car trunk. This style lends it self well to cable operation. When the trunk lid is closed the pin aligns with the latch bolted to the floor. As the pin is pressed into the latch a spring loaded hook moves around the pin to hold the trunk down. No outside handle is needed. To release the lid a cable can be pulled to release the spring loaded hook thus releasing the pin and allowing the gas charged struts to lift the hood hands free.
