SPF Owners...a seat question
I need to lower my "head profile" in my SPF, as my 6'3" frame juts just a little too high in the saddle. FWIW, leg room with the leather wheel is not an issue.
I was looking at the seat tracks on my SPF and noticed that there is about 2-3 inches of front-to-back offset between the bolts that go through the floor and the bolts that go to the tracks. At least this was true on the front bolts...I didn't look at the backs that carefully. How do I go about bolting the seats directly to the floor without being forced to move the seat forward a couple inches. I need it all the way back. I'm sure someone out there sells the correct brackets for this. Thanks for the help! -Deano |

I suggest you give the folks at Dynamic a call. I had the set innards adjusted on mine to lower the tush so I didn't feel like I was sliding into the legwell. I also had two of the Oltoff's metal spacers put under the front of the seat (call Oltoff for details), which canted the seat back a bit (and made some folks rollbar legal for track to boot). I find the seating very comfortable now. I believe you *can* attach the seat directly as you suggest. Mike or Mark can help you out with details. |

I’m 6’2” and I sat just high enough the wind would catch the top of my head. I have not heard of any kind of kit available. I lowered my seat and moved it all the way back by removing the seat adjusters. After removing the adjusters, I made two adapter rails out of 1”x1/8” strip stock (available at any well stocked hardware store). I don’t remember the length, but they are about 3” longer than the adjusters. The rails bolt up to the seat as the adjuster rails did. To attach the seat to the floor, I put the seat in place with adaper rails attached and then marked the adapter rails with a pencil up through the original mounting holes. I then drilled holes in the rails and put bolts down through the holes to replicate the studs on the original rails. The two forward bolts are longer than the rear so I could put 1/2” spacers under the front to give the seat a little rearward tilt. It’s been two years and 10,000 miles since I made this mod, and I have never regretted it… I find it very comfortable. Craig – SPF 1265 |
I'm 6'4" and had the same concern.
The newer SPF "bladder" seats with the netting sit much higher than the old "pad" seats. I opted for the old seats at purchase to give me some height advantage. You might ask to see if someone will trade with you. To get the seats further back I just removed the seat rails completely. After removing rails and bolts, I shoved the seat all the way back and drilled up through the frame holes from underneath the car into the fiberglass seat frame. I then bolted the seat, using large washers, directly down to the car. This might seam crude but it gives you maximum room. Good luck, Charmer |
Hey Craigayl: Saw your posted pictures. That's a mighty fine looking SPF. Is that Superformance Royal Blue or Indigo Blue. Would like to know because I'm close to pulling the trigger on an SPF myself, and blue with white stripes is a favorite combination around here.

My SPF is Royal Blue. When I bought my car, I thought the Indgo was a little too dark, but if I ever get another, I don't know... Just may go Indigo.. Both are sharp collors... Your going to love your choice in a SPF!! Craig |

Here is more pictures of a Royal Blue SPF. I think it is a super color. I agree with craigayl about the Indigo blue. A little dark. The royal blue really sparkles in the sun and looks great at night. Go ahead and pull the trigger. You won't regret it. Might take a few months to get the grin off of your face. |
Turn your sun visors up to deflect the wind. It works for my 6'3'' height. Unfortunately these cars weren't designed for us American giants.
