Ok, something interesting just happened. I have never had any anit-virus software installed and never had a problem (except for that blaster thing a couple months ago.) At the suggestion of all of you, I downloaded and installed the Norton 2004 package last night.
A few minutes ago, Norton just popped up a High Risk Alert which said the following: "Attempt to connect to local computer using Backdoor/SubSeven Trojan horse detected." What's the story with this? |
That is your software working for you! You have always had this happen to you but you had no way to know it.
Check out http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ven....subseven.html Be affraid, be very affraid!;) And get back to work will you:p rick |
Chaplin,
When you installed your new software and rebooted your system, did you allow it to do a full system scan for viruses???? if not, you need to allow it to do it's job.......... Bill S. |
Just to reinforce what Bill said you need to make sure that you have the latest virus definitions and then do a FULL scan. You may have the Trojan server on your machine. If you have an IP that constanly is trying to access your machine you can permaniatly block them entirely.

More new virus updates now available for Nortons users................10:10am this morning...

OK, I've updated my virus definitions as follows:
Main Entry: vi·rus Pronunciation: 'vI-r&s Function: noun Etymology: Latin, venom, poisonous emanation; akin to Greek ios poison, Sanskrit visa; in senses 2 & 4, from New Latin, from Latin 1 archaic : VENOM 1 2 a : the causative agent of an infectious disease b : any of a large group of submicroscopic infective agents that are regarded either as extremely simple microorganisms or as extremely complex molecules, that typically contain a protein coat surrounding an RNA or DNA core of genetic material but no semipermeable membrane, that are capable of growth and multiplication only in living cells, and that cause various important diseases in humans, lower animals, or plants; also : FILTERABLE VIRUS c : a disease caused by a virus 3 : something that poisons the mind or soul 4 : a computer program usually hidden within another seemingly innocuous program that produces copies of itself and inserts them into other programs and that usually performs a malicious action (as destroying data) |
Bill/Rick-
