Sounds like the beginning of a story sent to a particular "Letters" magazine I know of.....

"Dear Letters:
I never thought I'd be writing to you, but I just had to share this with somebody. I was cruising in my Cobra the other day, when I came to a stoplight, and what rolls up next to me? The Hawaiian Tropic Bikini Team bus! Suddenly, a strikingly beautiful blonde coed (clad only in her tight white t-shirt and red short-shorts) jumps out of the bus, runs up to my car and asks, 'It's just too hot and crowded on that bus. Can I ride with you for awhile so that the wind from your open-top-car can cool the glistening sweat off my taut body???'.....you guys can finish it from there.

Needless to say, this has yet to happen to me in my Cobra. But when it does, you can be sure that I'll smile nicely and flash my wedding ring, then drive home and club myself with a cricket bat. Pun intended.

Its the combination of 2 things; the look, from every angle you may choose; its pure function, no fancy stuff like spoilers or else, and yet still a breathtaking beauty. The other thing is the sound and the brute force of a stomping V8.

Two years ago my buddy and I (both in cobras)decided to take the cars out one sat night. The main strip in Albany Ny is a 4 lane road where there used to be alot of street racing in the old days. Now its just a fun place to cruise;).
I have a old coupe on my right so I never noticed the car two back but it was full of ladies on their way out for the night. When we stopped at a light one hops out walks right buy my buddy and says sorry guys no room here(he brought his friend    ) up to my passenger side and says " You look way more fun then my friends do you mind if I ride with you":MECOOL: She gets in and I follow her friends to the club they were going too.

To make a long story short I endded up getting her # and we endded up dating for a few months after. One thing she never did forgive me for the snake bite she got  even though I told her 3 times make sure you don't touch the pipes when you get out.

For a ugly bastard like me That says alot for the car:D

Greg

That by far was my greatest cobra moment:MECOOL:

Golly, I can't believe how warm I am... ... would it be OK if I removed my clothes....??

These cars are poetry in motion . . . even standing still. The best view IMO is from the rear. Round, shapely hips, just like a woman.:MECOOL:

I don't even smoke

Damn, after reading several of these postings, I had to go outside and smoke a cigarette.... to cool off...My wife caught me out in the garage the other night with the lights out again.

Are the cars sensual or sensuous... I can never remember which one....;)

Bluesman 01-27-2004 05:41 PM

Brawn & Beauty combined. Woman, kids, foreigners, chevy owners and on and on.... they all love the car.

Oh yeah... I have owned vintage corvettes (65 & 67) they are
very nice looking. But the Cobra is the only car I have owned where I have picked up notes and business cards with phone numbers off of my seats from women wanting to "hook-up" and
go for a ride.
Like any red blooded male, I always throw the invitations in the trash.

Well, I'll say it. That's got to be the shortest post I've ever seen Evan write.

(Sorry Evan -- couldn't resist. :))

Sure, the sight and sounds are great and the attention is OK, too. But, the thing that amazes me is that this contraption works so well.

I expected that the car I constructed with my own hands would be safe enough to get me to point B most of the time. I didn't expect it to be able to win it's class in a regional SCCA Solo2 or a 16 hour Monte Carlo Rally!

Sure, it's taken years of trial and error to get the right assembly of parts, but when I pull into a garage after dusting off a Ferrari or Viper or Corvette or Porsche, it's hard to get the smile off my face.

So, when I look at the car sitting in the garage, it's kinda pretty, sure. But it's capabilities are the amazing part. It makes me proud of my work and also of the heritage of the Cobra.

Well...

It's been great reading this thread and I debated whether to chime in or not, since I have not taken delivery yet - but here's my take....

First time I saw a Cobra was 12 years ago - I remember having dreams about it for a good couple of weeks after that - driving it, hearing the sound, looking good in the drivers seat for the ladies (I was 24 at the time - that hasn't changed).

Now 12 years later I finally pull the trigger and order one. I agree with just about everything that has been mentioned on this thread - but the hook for me was knowing everything I liked about the car only became more intense (obsessive) once I was seriously researching a car to buy - knowing I was finally going to buy one. Having ordered in November - there has not been a day that I do not think of the Cobra (everything about it) at least 10 times. Not having yet experienced the thrill of driving it/one whenever I want - the best part to date, has been learning from many of you on this forum. It keeps stoking the fires of obsession and depleting my wallet with all the new projects you guy have given me ideas for.

I should be on the road buy the end of March and I am sure everything I like about the car now will be magnified x1000 once I am pulling out of my driveway everyday.

Thanks to Brent and all of you for making this forum part of my daily routine....

Great story Paul. Copngrats on the new car. It only gets better too. You'll really enjoy the car.
I have a restored 67 427 Vette along with the Snake. I sure like the Vette but the Snakes just seems to get more miles on it.

These cars look great from any angle, coming or going. But, like a beautiful lady in a string bikini, this has to be one of the best views.

Kinda thought you would have remembered the ride thru OC a few months back.......;)

Snak Iyz 02-02-2004 04:58 PM

Edley

In my typical over verbose style, I was struggling to keep it under 10 paragraphs to begin with..... But, the subtle nod was at the end with the 'Thanks to everyone on the forum'.

The cruise in OC was just the right affirmation letting me know that I had made the right decision to order the car.... If I was ear to ear in your passenger seat, imagine when I am finally behind the wheel....

Any thoughts on the next cruise....:D I don't want to take up the space in your car in case there are any last minute female victims, but willing to do so anytime if the spots open....
