Its All About The People. Examples?
"There is no better car on the planet than a cobra." THAT is why I joined this club in '99 and then bought my dream car. THAT is why I got together with other local enthusiasts to help form our local club, the Texas Cobra Club. However, my love of cobras soon became secondary in my reasoning for participating in Club Cobra and the Texas Cobra Club. The real reason that I, and most all of us, keep coming back to this wonderful sight is because of the people. Although many of us have never met in person, we are like a family (albeit disfunctional at times, but nonetheless). This family, as a good family should, offers support and help beyond the call of duty. If you look at today's topics of conversation, you'll see posts about sharing in the happiness of other's triumphs, and you'll see posts about sharing the saddness in the loss of our fellow CC family members and loved ones. Just plain good people here. Thanks Brent.
I know most of you have run into someone from the Cobra Club family that has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Whether it be help with a build, exceptional service from a member's business, or tireless effort in hosting an event, etc., I think it would be nice to share these "good deed" experiences with the rest of us. I don't believe it would be right to start a thread like this without thanking the man responsible so here we go..... _______________________ BRENT MILLS for continuing to go way above the call of duty to keep this family together. You da man. PAULA and ENZO ALLIBRAND at the Finish Line. For 5 years of extremely generous contributions to our yearly Texas Cobra Club anniversay event. Let's hear your examples :) Charmer |
AMEN!
I remember coming down to Austin looking to buy a house, because of my family relocating. I found out about the First TCC event and went over to Origin garage and then to County Line for our first offical meeting. This Yankee was treated like a member of the family from the very moment I started to meet every one. The cobra brought us all together, but the friendships will last a lifetime.

The Cobra car started it, but you are right as I have met a lot of the people of ClubCobra by attending all three Double Venom Spring Flings. Also being Vice President and President of the Deep South Cobra Club has also made me aware of many Cobra owners and enthusiasts. I have met many of the people from these events of our club. I get together on a daily bases with many as we email back and forth. With the wonderful winter we are having up north I'm getting together Friday with a Cobra enthusiast from Ohio who has dropped in for the last three years to visit. It's the people wih our similar interests that make great friends.

I couldn't agree more. It really is an amazing group. Yes, disfunctional as well! But isn't every family to a point? You take a group of people that without this bond would just as soon flip each other off (or worse) and bring them together to put there differences aside. It is always something to see oil and water mix for a while:D

Yup...same thoughts we have in the Gasholes. The car is simply the "E" ticket...meeting and enjoying each other's company is the actual ride.
Course, then there's Turk: "It isn't the car, it isn't the people...it's the deal.":3DSMILE: |
Yup. The journey started for me when I went looking for a kit to build. I was refered from A&C to a guy named Pat that lives in the same town as myself. Pat had completed an A&C kit about 4 years before. He was a retired Machinist, Modeler, Tool & Die, Shop Teacher, so I knew we would become friends quickly. He has been an amazing help. He asks for nothing in return and won't take anything for going way above the call. I honestly believe my cobra would not even be close to the quality it is without his help. He still shows up every week to help out. As for Club Cobra, a completely wonderful place. My questions always get answered and the people are great. If you can pass the skin-thinkness test and have a sense of humor, this is the place to be. I have made a few friends here. I have even met a few in person and I would never had known them if it wasn't for my Cobra and ClubCobra.com starting it all. Turns out that one member here was the jewler that made my wifes wedding ring. I have even met some great people just working on my kit with the garage door open. I will never forget Gary, a guy that happened to drive by my house last summer while I was working on getting the engine in the frame. There I was sitting on the garage floor when an ole green Bugeye Sprite comes pullin up. It was great to see another car guy with a lot of good knowledge to share. I met Ed, my welder the same way. Well, thats it for now. I know I will be making a lot more friends this summer and I hope to see a few of you guys at events around New England.
