Missing Gallery Icon?

Ron/Brent-
The camera icon next to everyone's screen name has disappeared. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? And if it's just me, how do I get it back?

Thanks

Dan Semko 01-29-2004 02:24 PM

Mike,
That's the first thing that goes. I told you if you continued to do that it would cause blindness and early senility!:D

computerworks 01-29-2004 02:27 PM

Did you just recently install Norton Firewall?

If so, disable it and see if it makes a difference; I think I remember a glitch with that and the icons... I'll have to check back on it.

If not, Dano is right.

Chaplin,

If you just installed Nortons internet Security, you have to go in and adjust the settings for certain web pages.....Read the instructions, 10 minutes later, you'll have it all configured properly, and be back on track.....If all else fails, as Dan as already pointed out, you'll go blind if you don't stop :D :D :D

Well, if I'm going to be blind, I might as well be senile. At least I won't be able to remember that I'm blind:p :D

I'll check the settings on the firewall- that is if I can see them and remember how**)

Chaplin 01-29-2004 02:58 PM

Ron-
You were right. By turning off the firewall, the icons returned. I then turned the firewall back on and the icons are still there- so it's working now.

And Dan, I always thought the hair was the first thing to go:p :D

Dan Semko 01-29-2004 04:35 PM

That's not what Jamo told me and you've seen him!;)

Ron/Mr.M
Another question for you guys. Since installing Norton, I have noticed that when I go to certain webpages that have pictures, the pictures are no longer displayed in the main web page. If I click on the empty box where the picture should be, the link works and it takes me to the larger version of the picture, but it is a PITA to click on every picture just to see what the thumbnail was.

What settings do I need to reconfigure to make sure it works as it should?

Thanks in advance.:)

Turk, where would we be without your sage advice?:) :p

Bill Wells 02-01-2004 09:23 AM

I have the same problems on CC and some other forums when my Norton's Firewall is activated. I can turn it off, and some, but not all, the features on CC return.

Does anyone with McAfee anti virus / firewall have the same problem or is it something unique to Nortons ? anyone know for sure ? thanks. Bill.

Chappy...

Take a look at this technical note from Norton about that very problem.

Let me know if it helps.

"Dr. Turk," CW says, "...I really hurts when I do this (flexes elbow).

"Well, Ron," say Dr. Turk, "..that's easily fixed...don't do this (flexes elbow).

Ron,
Thanks for the link. I checked it out and changed the settings but it didn't make much difference. But I did figure out how to solve the problem (at least on realtor.com which is where I noticed the problem). On the Norton "Web assistant" icon, I turned off the "block ads on this site" function and the pictures appeared. I guess for some reason, Norton thought the pics were ads.**)
