Indication of Interest from CC Members: Reproduction Magnesium Kidney Beans Wheels
A friend of mine is in the process of making new magnesium FIA Cobra and Kidney Bean Wheels (15") and Aluminum early Le Mans Style Knockoffs. The size is 6-1/2 (front) 8-1/2 (rear). Any interest by Forum members? If so, contact Fran Kress at 412 441-4275

Cal Metal,
Will the repros actually be magnesium or aluminum? |
Magnesium. The Le Mans knockoffs, which were originally steel, will be made out of alumimun.

Interested.
Widths? Would suggest bronze for street knock-offs, to avoid removal issues with alloy, after some use and non-removal. Alloy tends to bond with alloy when very tight, particularly on a street wheel that is seldom removed and subject to water and road salts. And, the alloy tangs can be bent or broken without a special tool for removal.javascript:smilie('') A bronze spinner has its mass near the center of rotation, so the intertial drag is zip, but of course, it will weigh a bit more and cost more. The golden bronze patina looks cool to some, but the alloy can be color treated at will. |
The spinners will be aluminum (originals were steel) The widths are listed in my first post.
