What's On In April - Help
Can anyone let me know what the clubs are up to in the month of April - anywhere in the states.
This is a plea for help from the other side of the pond. I am planning a surprise trip for my husband, it's his birthday, and so far have managed to keep it quiet. We will be going to Los Angeles and then onto Las Vegas for the first week, but after that no plans, but would be willing to fly to meet up. I know that he would love to meet other owners and talk cobras, that's all they seem to do at our local club, and wondered if any clubs would like a couple of Brit's tagging along to their meet. Would be very grateful for any help. |
Kay,
I am not sure this will be of interest to you but the week of April 14 through 18 is our big Northern Calif. car show at Redding and there will be several of the Cobras there from the area and Bay Area. The show is on Saturday the 17th and if you happen to be in this area let me know and I can meet with you and show you around. Also some of the other Club Cobra members are scheduled to appear. Jamo, Turk, etc. Ron **) |
The Knott's kit car show is 24 April, in Buena Park (just south of LA). Should be scads of Cobras there.

Hey guys - anything else going on first two or three weeks in April??
This lady is planning a special surprise cobra-oriented trip to the 'states for her snake-bitten husband - so you really should give her lots of options. Even if you just post info on some of your regular area meets that would help. Come on now - let's see some of that fabled American hospitality (let's face it, if you can make me feel welcome, think how you could treat some far nicer folks  ) Wilf PS - forget the "poll" - give a first-time poster a break! |

The Auto Fair will be at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C. on April 2, 3, and 4. There will be at least 35 Cobras there. There will also be at least two dealers there, one SPF and one FFR. They will both have cars in various stages of completion.

Kay,
The show at Knott's on the 24th as mentioned. Plus you are only about a 5 hour drive from L.A. to Vegas and could visit Shelby. From there you could head north to Utah and visit the Kirkhams. Or start at the show in Redding on the 17th go across to Utah and see Kirkham on Monday, Spend a couple days in Vegas and see Shelby, then on to L.A. on Friday Go to the Knott's show on Saturday and drive back up the coast on Sunday. There will probably be 100 Cobras at Knotts. Wow I should be a travel agent. http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/home.cfm http://www.shelbyautos.com http://www.kitcar.com/club-aha/home.html There is also the Fabulous Fords Show on the 17th. http://www.fordcarclubs.org/ There's your hospitality Wilf. Agenda and all. |
Also, The Fabulous Fords Forever Car show is at Knott's April 18, the week before the Knott's Kit-Car show. Last year had 24 Cobras driven into the show; Shelby had a display, and he even managed to autograph stuff for a LONG line of people!

It's great to know that Wilf's looking after me. without his help I know I would have got into a far greater mess than I have, - please excuse the poll, went into the message centre and couldn't get out unless I filled in the boxes.
What started out as an idea to take the other half for a special birthday holiday, has now grown legs and is running. Wilf has arranged to us to go to Shelby's - got to be a lifetime dream for a Devonshire lad with a Cobra - and I am trying to arrange a trip down the Grand Canyon it's just got to be done. Thanks to all who have answered, just got to get the kids "free with Weetabix" Atlas and find out where these places are. Please keep suggestions coming. Thanks again everyone. |

If you can stay long enough, you might like the Nascar Nextel Cup race at California Speedway in Fontana, California, near Los Angeles, on May 2. If you are coming all the way over here to take part in car events, you can't beat a Nextel Cup race.

THE WEEKEND OF APRIL 17 & 18 THE NOR-CAL SHELBY CLUB WILL HAVE ITS SPRING FLING AT THUNDERHILL, WILLOWS CALIF.THATS SOUTH OF REDDING, CAL. AND NORTH OF SACRAMENTO. GREAT EVENT AND GREAT TRACK (SAME TRACK USED IN THE FORD GT ADD). THIS EVENT ALONG WITH THE COOL APRIL NIGHTS EVENT IN REDDING WOULD BE FUN. AT THUNDERHILL EITHER THE FLIP TOP (CSX2196) OR THE DRAGONSNAKE (CSX2427) SHOULD BE RUNNING.
