Need info/help on the Knott's gathering...
Hi. The last Knott's gathering I attended was probably 5 years ago. Now that I have my SPF, I would like to attend (and enter the show) not as a spectator but as a participant....but with one caveat.
I coach Little League and have a game commitment that Saturday morning (April 24). I wouldn't be able to get over there until early afternoon, at best. 1. Would a late Saturday arrival exclude me from any event judging? 2. Could I just show up on Sunday instead and still be a part of that aspect? 3. What time do they typically open the gates for participants? 4. With a late arrival, will I still have access to the show area, or would I have to park in the spectator lot? 5. Would I be better served talking to Dennis at Hillbank and getting a spot in the SPF booth? Or is that just an ugly invite toward having legions of people jump into your car? FWIW, Dennis hasn't seen #747 yet, but I know he'd be impressed with the product. 6. Are there roped off areas, or is each car going to be at the mercy of the belt-wearing spectators that want to lean in really close? I would really, really appreciate the inputs of those that have attended either this gathering, or others like it, in the past. Again, it's been 5 years since I've been and all I recall are cars parked all over which way and people walking everywhere. %/ -Deano |
I will try to help with some of your questions. I believe your car must be there on Saturday to be judged. And, you must come back on Sunday to receive a trophy. I seem to remember the gates opening around 8 a.m. I think they would let you in the show area with your car even if you came late. Your car will be in the open, so to speak. If you do decide to leave it, you may want to make arrangements to park it where it will be watched.
Lastly, you can call the registrar for the event and they are pretty accommodating--so I would ask them. |
Are you going Bill?
