I RECIEVE DREAM CAR GARAGE'S NEWS LETTER AND THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING ON A COBRA. THEY SHOWED PICTURES IN THE LETTER. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT MANUF. IT WAS OR IF IT WERE AN ORIGINAL. THE NEW SEASON STARTS TONIGHT AT 11:30 EASTERN.

Frank Gleason 02-18-2004 09:37 PM

It's an original 427. They have not said what the number is.

SPEEDEAMON 02-18-2004 09:55 PM

I just watched this but it really sucked. They spent 2 minutes on Cobras and kept jumping from one subject to the next. Except for the Enzo who cares about a Nova?? Am I missing something? Please clue me in.

CSX 3006 is the restoration project

It really, really, really, really sucked!!!!! It was just one big info-merciall...maybe 10 minutes (to be generous) of superficial content, and 20 minutes of local commercials. I really don't think I've ever seen a worse so-called TV program, other than a program billed as an infomercial.

If that's what "Dream Garage" is going to be on the Speed Channel, I'll pass from now on.

Dream Car schedule...

This episode was just supposed to be a "table of context" showing what they were going to be doing during this season.

Upcoming episodes include a Superformance track day at VIR, an engine install in a Superformance, a tour of the SPF/Hi-Tech factory in Port Elizabeth as well as more of the original Cobra resto. Hang in there.

Here is their Schedule...

I agree with Randall, it was the "season opener" - these guys do some pretty neat stuff. As far as the Nova, it is quite a special car. It appears that Superformance is sponsoring a segment on the show. Also remember all prices are Canadian $s.

I too was pretty unimpressed, sampler or special, the production was pretty poor. Have we learned nothing from the Teutuls?? Pick one theme or one project and hammer it out. That's the way to engage an audience. If it was intended to be a sampler, it should have had the hosts in one place narrating what you're going to see. At many points, I couldn't tell whether I was watching the program or the commercials. It just felt like it was filmed for a 3:00 am audience and this could never make it in prime time slot. The descriptions contained in the schedule also show the programming jumping all over, and it's got no air dates next to the episode sequences, is episode #2 on Feb 20 at 7:30 am?? I don't know! So you have to tune into 3 minutes of each episode to follow superformance? That's pretty lame. "Rides" on TLC is a good production, and they film one project at a time.

Missed the show last night, but I've always liked "Dream Car Garage"... except as noted by some earlier posts, the commercial time; seems like 5 minutes of show - cut to 5 minutes of commercial and repeat for 1/2 hour.

Seems like all the other auto shows, (Two Guys Garage, Horse Power TV, My Classic Car, Trucks!, etc.), have essentially the same format. And just in case you didn't get enough commercials, they usually have some kind of 'new products' segment that runs for about 5 minutes.

Beats watching the Democratic Primarys anyway...

Dream Car Garage is one of my favorite shows. I like the test drive segments where they wring out one classic and one modern performance car per episode. Last night was a screaming yellow Ferrari Enzo and a Yenko Nova.

Every season they do a total restoration of a classic car. Last year was a Corvette, the year before that was a Shelby GT350. This season they're restoring an original comp 427 Cobra. How cool is that?

And best of all, it's not NASCAR!

Good Morning.

I posted the news about the Superformance feature on Dream Gar Garage featuring Feb 18th. I am sorry if I kept (especially Easterners) up needlessly last night, but I misunderstood the draft schedule - the 2004 series started last night, but the episodes featuring SPF only starts in the second edition next week. Please accept my sincere apologies for the misinformation. The following segment is quite revealing:

Dream Car Garage - Superformance Appearances

during the 13 Episode Cycle, Superformance will sponsor a banner in all those episodes for the "Modern Dream Car Segment." The banner spot features the SPF Coupe and and SPF MKIII on the track in South Africa as well as a Hi-Tech Nobel flying by somewhere in there.

Below are the episodes featuring Superformance within the programming itself, not just advertising...

Episode 2 - SPF Owners running the track @ VIR
Episode 5 - MKIII goes out for a Test Drive
Episode 8 - Hi-Tech Factory Tour Segment #1
Episode 9 - Hi-Tech Factory Tour Segment #2
Episode 11 - MKIII complete Engine Install
Episode 13 - SPF Coupe Test Drive

Hope you guys can all wait... I know I can't.

/Randall
