Quote of the day:
"Clark came through at the end of the first lap of the race so far ahead that we in the pits were convinced that the rest of the field must have been wiped out in an accident" - An onlooker describing Jim Clark's incredible first lap speed at the 1967 Belgian GP at Spa. |
My inlaws have a winter townhome in North Miami beach right next door to Sterling. They got an autographed photo for me which is in my den.
I hope to meet him next winter when he is there. |
You mean Stirling Moss? Wow!!

I asked Gene Felton, recent inductee into the Motorsports Hall of Fame, if he held the "pedal to the metal" rounding the very scary downhill high speed turn 12 at Road Atlanta, and he replied:
"Oh Hell NO, no way, I mean, not unless I'm passing somebody" and he passed me right there later that day. |
"Drivers are just interchangeable light bulbs - you plug them in and they do the job" - Teddy Mayer, McLaren.

Johan:
Felton, the "King of Road Atlanta"; I set up a car for him at the track. He took me for a lap at full tilt so he could show me what the car did . . . went into severe oversteer under certain conditions. I did this while hanging onto the roll cage . . . no restraints! I know how scarey 12 is, believe me. I don't want to post my quote. Oh, we got the car sorted out. The next race was Daytona. He got the pole, set the fastest race lap and won the race. IMSA hung more weight on his car for the remainder of the season. |
Next Friday, Gene will be coaching me at Road Atlanta on how to drive the Cup Car I bought from him.
I may be able to add to his quotes: "Man, that was pathetic, I could do better with my eyes closed!" "You do know how to use a gas pedal, don't you?" "Did you see the sign at the gate that said "Men only"? :D |
The team is doing 'ok' in a race.
Car comes into the pits. Crew Chief leans in the window and says "Boy - this is a race car. Quit drivin' and start racin'" |
Pat: Yes. That Sterling. Actually its Sir Sterling Moss.
|
Actually you are spelling his name incorrectly. It is Stirling Moss. With an "i".
But then again...... |
