Jay Leno's Tank Car

I just watched this bit on My Classic Car....it was awesome. Jay takes our hobby to a whole new level. Highlights:

-1800ci Overhead cam Hemi
-990hp - 1600ft/lbs (That is more than Pat Buckley's ;-)
-Jay's qoute - "You think I have sexual problems?"

Joe,
This car showed up at our local AutoRama in Sacramento last year. Its a mindblower to see in person. As I recall, it did not take the builder very long to complete the car; but I had no idea who owned it, or maybe Jay bought it from the guy that owned it when we saw it. Or its possible there is more than one of these now... We sort of wondered who sponsored this type of car build, all makes sense now... :)

I wonder HOW he got that thing registered! Must be one of the 500 numbers.

Here's a link to the site of the guy who originally built the car. For those interested there's some build up photos.

Joe,
I saw that show last week. Very cool indeed. I think Leno was joking that it gets 1/2 mile to the galloon. It was pretty neat to listen to though, it did sound like a tank.

Duane-
Leno said that he bought it from the original builder.

I saw that car in Sacramento as well. It is more imoressive in person than in the pictures.
Polish work is not as good as Pat's, but on the other hand Jay's sexual problems don't even come close to Pat's.

I saw that episode last year...before the Fling because it was during the time we were trying to get Leno to show up, so he's had it for awhile.

Jay showed up at the Rock Store, a popular So Cal biker hang out with that car a couple months ago. People weren't so interested in the bikes after he pulled up in that monster. As said before the pictures don't do it justice and Jay has no shortage of rolling stock. Steve
