Seeking top quality painter in Arizona, Nevada or So. Cal

I'm undecided about whether to paint my Kirkham or leave it in the buff. While I am leaning toward the latter, I would like to talk with a painter who can do show quality work on an aluminum car. If any of you have first hand experience with such a painter in the western states, please let me know -- your advice will be most appreciated! By the way, this question has nothing to do with the fact that my arms are about to fall off from sanding my car :)

Walter,

Did you see this month's Hot Rod magazine? Lots of really neat painting ideas. I have friends that do really impressive work, here. But, do you really want to bring your car to LA?

RallySnake,

I wouldn't mind LA if the shop was top notch and they had a degree of experience with a cobra. Do you have any ideas?

JoeLavfives,

I will give Squeegs as call. Thanks.

WM,

Mike McCluskey has painted many of our cars...he even paints Carroll Shelby's cars. He is reasonably priced, on time, honest, and does a great job. Los Angelos, Ca.

Tell Mike I sent you to him and he will treat you right.

Of course, I still prefer the brushed look and my offer still stands.

David:) :) :)

If So Cal is in the geography, I'd also check out the custom Hotrod fabricators for painting advise. Especially the builders that do metal/aluminum rods.

Levy Racing in Tempe has a lot of experience painting Cobras.

Thanks, guys -- youv'e given me plenty of ideas.

David, I am inclined to agree with you that the brushed look is the way to go. For some unexplained reason, however, I find myself daydreaming of a vintage color scheme with big white meatballs painted in wimbeldon white. The product of a fevered mind, I guess. It does seem a shame to cover up all the pretty Polish aluminum with paint -- adds weight, too. And with a mere 600 hp, one must be concerned with maintaining the power to weight ratio:)

WM,

Please drop me a line.

WM,

If it was me I'de leave it a BNL.

However, I believe Gordon does have some aluminum painting experience. I believe he did some of Dick Smith's restoration many years ago.

MITTY: You could have the best of both worlds: Keep the bare aluminium, AND paint the meatballs and/or stripes.....havent seen THAT combination yet!

The best there is has to be Junior, AKA Hershel Conway. Not only does he know how to paint aluminum, he's won Pebble Beach many times. Only problem is his paint job may cost more than your Kirkham, no kidding.
If you want perfection, like your Kirkham body, Junior is it period.

and you don't have to tell him I sent you.
