Comp Cams retro roller .244 Duration?

Anybody have experince with Comp Cams 304HR .244 duration .576 lift? I'm trying to decide between this or the 290HR .230 duration .544 lift. The 304HR requires heavier springs and therefore will result in more drivetrain wear. I have a 408, haven't established the Compression ratio yet, and will use as a daily driver with a couple of trips to open track day at Willow Springs every year. Will the difference in duration make this engine harder to start?

I have used many of both types of cams. What heads will you be running? What intake and carb? I would run about 10.25 to 1 on the compression. If you wish, call me at my shop and I can tell you about some custom hydralic rollers we have used with great dyno results. Eric @ (513) 738-5001

Eric,

I have a short block with dished pistons, so I plan to use Canfield heads, because they come in 54CC or 58CC combustion chamber, giving me 10.25 CR or higher, probably Performer RPM Air Gap intake with BG 750 CFM. I'll give you a call about custom HR's.

Dave, I'm running a 425ci Windsor....Edelbrock Victor Jr's..10.5:1 compression, custom Comp valve springs to match the cam....and I'm running the 230 degree .544" lift Comp cam. I'm very happy with it. It's got a very nice lopey idle....kinda radical....It made peak horsepower at 5400 with my combo.
