Shelby Lighted Sign on eBay

Check out eBay item 2464313656.
The original sign that hung in Shelbys plant in the 60's.
Bidding is over $24k and reserve is not met yet!
I bet if ole Carroll knew it was worth that much, he would have taken it with him

Imagine if you told him then that someday the sign would be worth as much as several (a bunch?) of the cars were new!

"Priced Accordingly?"

Hhmmm, I wonder what a "Replica" would fetch????

Notice who is selling it...Perkins Restorations......This is the premier Mustang & Shelby shop in the country. His "low mileage" car collection is second to none.........To the right collector of Shelby memorabilia, this could be worth far more than what it is currently BID up to........But then again, what would I know about this stuff %/ %/ %/

yep, Perkins collection is indeed second to none for low mile and unique cars, plus his own restoration business is top notch too. He has some other auction items listed too on Ebay. Bill.

Ya know, if CS sees there's a market for these signs, he could manufacture them "offshore" for cheap and sell 'em for a bundle. Then if someone said, "Wow, is that a real Shelby sign?"

Aw...never mind... ;)

svobud 03-08-2004 08:08 PM

My question is .. why is Bob selling the sign in the first place?

mrmustang 03-09-2004 04:28 AM

Because that is what he does for a living. Buys out collections, keeps what he wants, sells what he does not..........He is a Mustang/Shelby guy, the Cobra sign really holds no value to him..........

No offense Bill, but you just gave a totally opinionated reply that's trying to be passed off as factual. You're not Bob Perkins. I know who the guy is and what he does for a living. I've probably crossed paths with you more than a couple of times at MCA Nationals/Grand Nationals.

Anway ... my question was rhetorical. I figured as a collector of unqiue stuff, this would be something he would want to keep - unless he's needing to free up some cash or other unknown reasons.

mrmustang 03-09-2004 06:02 AM

Actually, I do know Bob Perkins, I do know about this particular sign, and how he came to own it......As for crossing paths, yes, I'm sure we have as well......You can ask my SVO "bud" Ralph L. (yes that Ralph L.) from the GSRMC about me..........

Bill S.

PS: As for freeing up cash, I don't think that is an issue.............But that is something I have no personal knowledge about..........

I am with Bill on this. Although it's just my opinion. This is his business. Buy and sell Shelby and Ford rare items. It's not a family keepsake.

Bill .... I didn't accuse you of NOT knowing Bob. I said you're NOT the man and just because you KNOW someone doesn't mean you can speak for them. Jeeez Louise!!! Talk about lost in translation!?!?

Why do I need to verify with Ralph Linares what I can see right here?

mrmustang 03-09-2004 02:13 PM

It is not my intentions to start an argument here, or a pissing contest between you and I..... I know Bob's business practices, that is what I was trying to clue you in on up above..........I spent 15+ years doing the same thing he is still doing (buying and selling collections of parts for profit)...

PS: Speak with Ralph(I prefer to only use full last names on the web with the owners permission. However, with his pictures I have permission), he'll clue you in to me a little more than you think you already know. Tell him I hope to see him at next weeks meeting. tell him to not forget his badge, he'll know what I mean  :JEKYLHYDE

:3DSMILE:

Whoa

I think someone has a sign for sale here and will get a real good price.

Guess it will be available in the reproduction market soon. If the original fetches $25k or so!!!

Cheers

Bernie
