Sprucin'up the engine
If I scrub up the engine on the next nice day in NJ, and the engine gets wet should I cover the dist cap and the MSD box or is this an unnessessary concern?

Just warm up the engine first, then go sparingly with the water
and blow dry with reverse side of shop vac (has less air pessure than air hose and won't force water into places you don't want it) I always cover carb with Saran wrap. My MSD box is under dash inside, so I don't know but, if in doubt Saran wrap it. |
be careful you don't unknowlingly put a lot of water into your carb's air filter, the motor won't like to injest a big swallow of H2O. If you motor spins but won't fire, take off the Duraspark cap, and use a hair dryer to dry it out, happens occasionally to me. Mostly, i put on some engine cleaner, brush it well, and then run some water over it. As for the water in the crevices of the intake manifold, i just use my Mityvac to suck it out, but you can get it out in any number of ways. But keep the water away from your air filter.
