Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
Hi Folks,
The first photo was sent to me by a gentlemen at Ford. He made the statement that I should look at this chassis and compare it to the JBL chassis. The 2004 Ford Shelby Cobra concept car. http://www.jblmotor.com/images/chassis1.jpg The (Designed in 1994) JBL chassis. http://www.jblmotor.com/images/fullchas5.jpg Remarkable similarity. Except the Ford suspension is definitely old tech. They need to get a little more current.  |
Richard,
Are you thinking what I'm thinking???? Bill S. |
Very interesting. Shows what a great product you have at JBL.

Just look at the series one. |
Richard,
Can you make a body like that concept car? I would imagine more than a little interest. Tit for Tat, you know. |
Quote:
We certainly could make a body to match the concept car. But then we would get a law suit against us for copying the design. (Odd how all this works, isn't it?) |
Fascinating!

Wellllllllllllllll, if you can prove up the case for misappropriatijng your design, you're working days may be over. I recall an outfit in California had a design similar to yours for his Cobra replica...a former GM engineer? Who the heck was that, anyway?

TT [/quote] Tom my boy, You are speaking of the design done by Mr. Herb Adams. Quite similar. I am in no way saying that anyone has misappropriated the JBL design. You see, the language used in patents is: Obvious to those versed in the art. Some of us are so versed. Mr. Adams is one of them. Obviously, so are the engineers at Ford. Therefore, no foul. But I do think that they could have done a bit better job after ten years of observing the original design. |
Amazing - we saw it here first. Ford/CS creating the first JBL Replica chassis!   Congrats Richard!
|
I don't think they look that similar...am I missing something?
|
Okay boys,
Here's shootin' in the dark... 1. Iam not versed with patents, however I do understand the lawsuit implications. 2. If you made a " replica" design of the concept car-i.e. 2" shorter/longer/taller etc.- wouldn't that put it to rest? 3. I agree with the others about the copying of your design(do you smell fish?). Just my thoughts. But I really like that new cobra!... I wonder, would I have to join www.clubnewcobra.com? :D |
