Chris,
Do like Bill suggested and go to Carlisle, sit in each, compare everything that you can and develope your own opinion. Both cars are nice and very well done, ultimately you have to live with your decision so look drive if able to, both, and go from there.

Sittin in em'

The advice about going to the show and seeing them side by side makes alot of sense.

One word of caution though. Alot of cobra's that are true to the original are not that comfortable at first. For example, your feet may cant to the left......just like in the original 427 SC's.

I thought that strange at first, but don't notice it anymore.....and since I don't notice it, I'd just as soon have that aspect of he car correct.

Everybody's choice on this is personal. In my mind the 427SC was all about stickin the biggest meanest Powered by Ford engine you could cram into a sexy little roadster. Today that's the 514 and Shell Valley has a frame and axle set up that'll handle it with a Kevlar body to boot.

That said, and even though I have hundreds of autocrossing miles under my belt........I'm sure there are plenty of guys with 351W's out there that'd run circles around me on the track..........

Mroe power to em!

Thanks for the compliments (that I didn't quote). But, yeah - in person when you set a FFR next to another brand of Cobra .. take a step back .. you'll see the differences, but only from the rear. I noticed it first when an ERA FIA street car parked next to me. After I stopped drooling (no roll bar, no hood scoop, BIG flares), I was like, "hey, what the !?!". Of course, the crowd would flock to my car .. with the "whoa .. check it out." .. then they would ask the ERA owner, "is that a Cobra too?" :)

My car does not sit higher than the 2 Uniques in the photo. Actually .. if anything, it's lower. Look again at the pic, specifically .. the steering wheels. It's the "perky" butt that's giving the illusion that it's a Cobra 4X4. It is narrower and juts upwards .. I've never taken measurements, but talk with some FFR owners about how wide of a rear wheel that can squeeze under their cars. Answer: not much of one.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my FFR and didn't even consider another brand when it came time to buy one. I like the concept of using Mustang parts and that was a HUGE selling factor for me - price was the second. Plus, that do a damn good job of marketing their product.

Now .. I am saving my pennies for a Tri-state body and will be painting it a less than traditional color and no stripes. Everyone has a freaking blue one with stripes causing my preferences to have changed.
