Got a brake question....
With the Cobra being such a light car, would it be possible to run all 4 brake calipers (all single piston) off of a single tandem master cylinder? The way the brakes are rigged now, there is a master cylinder for the rear and one for the front....and the pedal has a balance bar on it.
So how hard would the pedal be to control all calipers with one dual-outlet master cylinder?....and with no booster....? Would it be that bad?

If you run off of one MC you will have to use a proportioning valve to balance the pressure - front vs. rear.
Also, whether you use one or two MC's, it is important to get the optimum pedal ratio. The distance from the point where the push rod attaches to the pedal to the end of the pedal should be five times the distance from the pedal pivot point to where the pedal attaches to the pushrod. A 5:1 Ratio.

I figured I would have to use a proportioning valve, but I was really curious about pedal pressure....controlling all the brakes with 1 master cylinder and no booster....would it be that bad?

There's no pressure advantage to running one or two master cylinders in a system. You can't get something for nothing. The advantage to a balance-bar system is optimal and/or adjustable proportioning.
A single master with an area equal to the sum of the areas of the two masters would be indistinguishable, ignoring loss through the proportioning valve.

BTW, would that be enough braking power for a car of this size? I was initially going with the Wilwood brake pedal with balance bar...with 7/8" master cylinders for each side....the tandem master cylinder that I was thinking about in the posts above is a single 1" (maybe a little larger) master cylinder....would that be enough braking power for a car this size and single piston calipers all the way around?

Got to bring this around to the top because I'm dealing with the same ideas but
wondering if that 1" bore (Wilwood tandem remote master cylinder) with proportioning valve would do the job.

Tony,
No argument but rather a question; BAER Brakes and Wildwood brakes, technicians both told us when we were into the custom brakes set ups for the DoubleVenoms the optimum pedal ratio was 6:1 not 5:1 ?????

The way I see it,and like I learned by trial and error,you will see what you will see.We all seem to have our own idea of how hard we want to stop.For me, it was hard enough to struggle to keep my face off the windshield.Good Luck
