Helmets
OK guys ......
Used for Auto-X, circuit and drags. Which standard must it conform to so as to be able to be used in all 3 ? So far I've found SA00, M2000, DOT, SA2000, SFI 32.1 and M85, SA1995 and K1998. The K std. appears to be for karting so won't apply here. For each of the 3 uses above what is the life of the helmet ? Thanks Doug |
Hi Doug,
Best advice I can offer is to consult the rules & regs of the organizations you intend to compete under. Most of them are pretty specific about what is required in a helmet, at least as a minimum. Like engine size, there's a rule I follow for the helmet: you can't have too good a helmet :D I have a Simpson Voyager SA00. Let us know what you find out, Tom |
Snell 2000, Covers it ALL!!!
|
Go with Snell SA is the best and you only have one head.
|
Do I go with the SA2000 or the SA00 ? Some helmets meet both, some 2000 and some 00.

Doug,
I raced motorcycles for years and bought a Snell 2000 M helmet, but they are not allowed on Texas Motor Speedway etc. Buy a Snell 2000 A uto and you are good to go for all of it. Tom |
Hello Doug,
Ok. You need more? Here's more :p Snell Foundation Don't hurt yourself - there's everything you could ever want to know plus about 1K times more.... Look under SA (Special Applications) for automotive helmets. My guess would be that SA 2000 and SA00 may be the same thing differently written because a quick look on the site only showed SA 2000. If it isn't, well, beware  Get a good one when you're done researching! Tom |
